Missionaries in restricted-access countries can't wire money and hope for the best.
Banks freeze it, fees eat away at it, & governments watch it.

Bitcoin is the future of money, and the volatility is only present because not everyone in the world is using it yet. When they are, the volatility will be even lower than the volatility of the US dollar.
I believe the widespread adoption of bitcoin will drive its price per coin from current levels to at least 10X current prices. I continue to believe that, at current prices, there is no better asset in the entire world that everyone should own as much of as they can afford.
Bitcoin is the future of money, the future of commerce, and by 2030 I believe it will be the most used currency in the world.

“Of all the world’s religious texts, the Bible is the only one that offers hope for these bodies and this world. Other religions may speak of an otherworldly paradise, but they don’t speak of the renewal of this creation. Only the Bible speaks of such an earthed and earthy future. And no wonder. Only the Bible speaks of the world loved into existence. Therefore it’s no surprise that the story which begins with family love, ends in feasting joy.” - Glen Scrivener

I'm a writer. I love writing. Writing is inextricably linked to thinking. I should be the first to decry AI-assisted writing. But the current line of conversation feels eerily similar to the no phone/no screen for kids debates of a couple years ago.

You’ve never met a single person who is overly encouraged. It goes so far when we simply acknowledge & celebrate the ways our people & friends image God well.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

In case you were wondering what my speech was going to be for the #pcaga AI study committee:
Mr. Moderator, Jim McAndrew, Ruling Elder, Northern California Presbytery. I rise to speak in favor of the overture.
Fathers and brothers, I hold a master's in computer science and artificial intelligence. I'm an entrepreneur, a business owner, and an investor, and I've been creating software for over 25 years — personally writing millions of lines of code in my career.
Please hear me, brothers: I cannot overstate the significance of what is happening in my industry right now, and I believe the disruption coming to the broader economy is going to be truly staggering.
Why do I believe this? Because I am personally working on seven different projects at once — each of which, until recently, would have taken a team of five to ten people and millions of dollars in funding. All of this came about in just the last six months, and things are only accelerating.
As an entrepreneur, the implications are both terrifying and exhilarating. Terrifying, because competition is fierce and the coming wave of unemployment will likely be staggering. Exhilarating, because there has never been a time when a single person could have such an outsized impact.
As a body, we cannot afford to ignore this trend. It is here to stay. Our people need guidance, as Christians, on what is acceptable use of this technology, and on how to counsel those who have been disrupted by it.
And if all that were not reason enough, there is an even deeper issue we must address. The people building AI are, by and large, secular transhumanists — all too eager to supply their own narrative about how it should be viewed and used. Many believe they are building a digital god, worthy of praise and worship and destined to be our successor as a species. Some even believe they will upload their consciousness and become digitally immortal. As Reformed Christians, we must recognize the allure of this false gospel to a post-Christian world, and confront it directly — seizing this opportunity to preach the biblical gospel to a world starving for the truth.
In twenty years, brothers, I believe we will look back on this as the issue of our age. I urge you to vote in favor of this overture. Thank you.
