The worst C. S. Lewis adaptation was that one where his fans made him into an evangelical.

I'm currently writing my paper for the Romans and Christian Theology conference next weekend @ptseminary! It offers a proposal for how to move the 'Paul and Politics' conversation beyond Wright-Barclay debates. Looking forward to the excellent lineup! ptsem.edu/academics/departme…

Happy Pastor Appreciation Day. We appreciate you keeping the sermon short so we can beat the Methodists to the Golden Corral.

The brain trust at Anthropic has no concept of what sin is, as evidenced by the fact that they think a free agent "could be made to choose goodness." It doesn't work that way, I'm afraid. Some famous stories that illustrate this, in fact. nytimes.com/2026/09/29/us/an…

In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

One of the best Christian takes on AI ethics and limits has to be Meghan Sullivan's DELTA project at Notre Dame. If you're looking for some hope amidst the daily AI doom scrolling, this @commonwealmag podcast episode is awesome: commonwealmagazine.org/podca…

I’ll believe people are really concerned about the ill effects of parents’ decisions on their children when I hear some concern—any at all—about what wealth and privilege–hoarding does to children. 1/

This isn’t a novel point, but underneath many of the morally-charged discoursey arguments on here is the lack of a common moral ground. And these arguments are actually proxies for distinct moral positions that may not even be understood by the arguers.

Meryl Streep or not, I love this doorknob on the rectory where Thomas Hamilton, C.S. Lewis's grandfather, lived in Belfast. Lewis never mentions the doorknob, but he spent lots of time here and many speculate that it planted a seed in the young Lewis's mind.

"If you find out that a friend or neighbor is a university professor, you’d probably ask them, 'What do you teach?' And if they squirm when asked, that’s because many faculty often do not see teaching as their primary job." I initially came here to say that the degradation of teaching in higher-education is a tertiary concern in the decline of higher-ed, but then I sat with it some more and realized, no, that's really how we got here. Bogost's article is worth a read. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

The Muppet Brothers Karamazov
It's too bad there wasn't at least one more Muppets movie in this format, honestly I wish they were still putting out one every few years to this day. It's a perfect film format for them: classic literature with muppets in the supporting roles & a juicy role for a "real" actor. Muppet Treasure Island actually did even better at the box office than Christmas Carol so I don't get why they bailed on the concept for the forgettable "Muppets From Space" next
