No matter how many times I listen to this, I cannot get over how incredible this sounds live!💞❤️

Starting a list of the 30 best adjectives to describe a "best living American songwriters" list that doesn't include Jimmy Webb.

Interesting input re: the "anything goes" approach to music marketing in the Age of the Algorithm. Marketing is one thing, "trend simulation" is perhaps another.
Many would say “Industry plant” is the wrong frame to apply here, but artists should be aware that a paid UGC campaign that isn’t disclosed likely violates the FTC’s endorsement guidelines.

Is it a lyricn video? A 'visualizer'? I dunno. But whatever it is, it's for my new single. Song of the summer? Why not. Dig. youtube.com/watch?v=3gINGxaD…

The quality of accuracy for news-gathering via social media platforms can be gauged by the percentage of times the phrase "grok is this true" is used.

Losing Sly Stone and Brian Wilson in the span of a week feels like a fundamental shift -- an irreperable, monumental tear in the fabric. It is. May we honor their memories and what we've learned from them by working away, stitch by stitch, note by note.

If you, like me, are currently going down an early '70s Elton John rabbit hole, then this is a must-watch. Worth investing the 30 minutes or so to hear the isolated backing vocals, and to see Davey conduct every instrument during playback. youtube.com/watch?v=3sTJFYeQ…

Somewhere in the cosmos, Val Kilmer, Hunter S. Thompson and Gordon Lightfoot are "having a time" as we say out East.
I’m so sad to hear about the passing of Val Kilmer. He was only 65. During one of our stays at the Chateau marmont, Hunter went for a walk down to the front desk (This was after his back surgery, so Hunter was spry, spring in his step, & athletic & free again). He passed by a guy sitting on the floor in the hallway, waiting for valet to bring him his lost key to his room, so Hunter said, you’re Val Kilmer? You do good work. And nonsense, you don’t wait on the floor, come with me to my room, we’ll feed you. So, Hunter came back to our suite with the temporarily homeless Val Kilmer. They started playing CDs, talking, laughing and a sweet bromance ensued for the rest of the day. Val did actually go back to his room for a sec to get some things. He brought a CD of his recording of Gordon Lightfoot songs. We all loved it and played the CD over and over. I still have it somewhere. Such a beautiful voice. It was just wonderful seeing two guys who are at the top of their fields hit it off personally . They were like two kids for the day. Oddly, I don’t remember taking any photos. But taking photos was my job, so if I do find them in the digital files, I’ll post them! Rest In Peace, beautiful kind, fun, talented, man with integrity. I wonder if you’ll find Hunter sitting on the floor waiting for you. Xo

I'm hoping that at least a little bit of Cory Booker's marathon speech was a passionate call for takeout for everyone assembled.

On this day in 2019, we lost a singular voice, an extraordinary talent. If push came to shove (as it sometimes does), I'd call this my favourite song of his. "Til next time, on the other side of midnight." youtube.com/watch?v=op4055-A…

We won't ever forget you, Marianne. Hopefully you and Harry are swapping verses on this somewhere in the cosmos. youtube.com/watch?v=vnJ2r6oa…

I've always been so happy to share a birthday with David Lynch, whose work has been a mind-expander of epic proportions for me. This birthday will, sadly, be different. But perhaps I'll take these 10 minutes to do just this... for him, for me, for us.
David Lynch, our beloved dad, was a guiding light of creativity, love, and peace. On Monday, January 20th—what would have been his 79th birthday—we invite you all to join us in a worldwide group meditation at 12:00pm NOON PST for 10 minutes. Let us come together, wherever we are, to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love across the world. Please take this time to meditate, reflect, and send positivity into the universe. Thank you for being part of this celebration of his life. Love, Jennifer, Austin, Riley and Lula Lynch

Watching Phil Donahue's talk show in the '80s was a masterclass in interviewing. No matter how frivolous or grave the subject matter, he was fully invested in unearthing answers. Thanks, Phil, for being a great teacher. Travel well.

Via music streaming outlets - 7 new songs comprising an 'album' called Someone/Anyone. From Beatley odes to insignificance (see below) to piano balladry to power pop to, uh, space folk? Performed and recorded solo in rooms not unlike the one in the pic. youtube.com/watch?v=d0rs_dZr…

As someone who is spending the evening going down a very deep Prefab Sprout rabbit hole, finding this exquisite cover of 'Bonny' by @lomoon is a delight. "Save your speeches, flowers are for funerals." youtube.com/watch?v=ENIxcHoL…

As a kid, my folks and I didn't see eye to eye on some of my musical leanings (hello, Kiss). But we all agreed on Bob Newhart, and would gather around the glowing box weekly to bask in his dry delivery. Travel well, Bob, and thanks from all of us sitting in the living room.
