The @blackhawks should skate out to *Sign of the Times" to start the third period
Every once in a while, when my wife tells me good night, I'll reply "Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning" just to remind her why she married me

Climate Change was worth it. – at Waterloo, IA
The Steve Miller Band has canceled all dates for its 2025 North American tour due to the general trend of climate change-induced weather disasters:
"The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable."

Part 2 is up and is linked in the next post! The United States of America has become an *extraction* economy. We extract value from our existing position in the world afforded to us through dollar dominance, without rebuilding the foundations that created that position.
China (for all their faults) has become a *creation* economy. They're building electricity capacity, investing in human capital, and developing infrastructure that goes far beyond attention economy mechanics.
That weird AI UFC octagon on the White House lawn is the perfect encapsulation of what American power looks like now when we increasingly optimize for spectacle instead of substance (Roland Barthes would be on the floor)
We're conducting policy via social media while China builds for 21st-century economic dominance. As David Autor of MIT said "the Trump administration is basically fighting the war of twenty years ago". While they’re electrifying everything, we are financializing everything - and the consequences are severe. So… how do we fix it?
Also, I got the chance to go on the Ezra Klein show (that came out this morning!) and I dive a bit deeper into some of the things we talked about. Thanks everyone!

Saying "I did this because McKinsey recommended it" is a get-out-of-jail free card for an exec in a way that "I did this because Perplexity recommended it" will never be
Or more simply: strategy consulting is air cover for execs.
You bring in McKinsey to:
- make unpopular decisions (fire people, like during a merger)
- build "impartial" supporting arguments for a course of action you already want to take
- not get fired ("nobody ever got fired for choosing IBM," but applied to decisionmaking)
- etc

Fuck this. The @cta is resolving to communicate LESS for 2025? I think not.
Please RT if you think @senvillivalam @SenDeWitte33 and ESPECIALLY @GovPritzker’s CTA board nominees should be getting in CTA President Carter’s ear to reverse this dumb idea by Monday of next week.👇🙄
