As the #consumer perspective remains strikingly absent from current EU telecom rules debate, @BERECeuropaeu Stakeholder Forum focus on end-users is very timely. @beuc message is clear: end-user rights are a key part of #EUtelecoms success story and must be improved, not weakened.

Είχα μια εποικοδομητική συνάντηση στις Βρυξέλλες με στελέχη της Ευρωπαϊκής Οργάνωσης Καταναλωτών @beuc: την Anna Martin, Επικεφαλής Χρηματοοικονομικών Υπηρεσιών, τη Mireia Llambrich Anto, Βοηθό Χρηματοοικονομικών Υπηρεσιών και τον Tom Redmond, Υπεύθυνο Πολιτικής για τη Βιώσιμη Χρηματοδότηση.
Συζητήσαμε τις προτεραιότητες της BEUC, που εκπροσωπεί 44 οργανώσεις καταναλωτών από 31 χώρες, εστιάζοντας σε ζητήματα που αφορούν :

🥣One of these breakfast products has 1% sugar, the other has 34% (‼️) sugar content. But both are able to make nutrition claims on their packaging.
🤨Why?
👎 Because the EU has failed (for 1️⃣6️⃣yrs) to set max levels of fats, salt and sugar for the use of such claims!
Juices with more sugar than cola proudly labelled as ‘antioxidant’, salty processed meat enticing consumers with ‘source of protein’ or biscuits boasting about their fibre content... legislation to #StopDodgyClaims is needed more than ever! beuc.eu/news/eu-16-year-dela…

Minimum nutrition requirements for food claims were due from the EU *16* yrs ago.
The failure to do so ➡️ even candies can still boast they have 'no fat' or '40% fibre' - leaving info on the staggering amounts of sugar hidden on the back

“European consumers expect their food to have the same standards of production regardless of where it comes from”, @beuc’s @arcapde commented on #Mercosur. Without import requirements in EU law to ensure everybody plays by the same rules, the deal shouldn’t be ratified.
