The Unexpected Budget Win for the Housing Market xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1DGLdZBwa…
I think there's an unexpected surprise upside for the housing market in November thanks to the budget. Nothing much has changed, BUT some certainty has been restored. I think people who were holding back will resume moving and we'll see a welcome activity uptick.

My Budget Knee-Jerk Reaction: Leaving aside the Fiscal Devolution curve ball (that needs some explaining because it makes rich areas richer, and poor areas poorer) there was nothing new or unexpected in that budget to affect the housing market significantly.
No changes to Stamp Duty, Capital Gains Tax, lending rules, the YFH scheme was announced as expected.
The rise in minimum wage will cost more jobs and that's a negative for demand.
So what does this mean for the housing market as a whole? Very little change.
We can perhaps hope for a little bit of a pre-Christmas pick up in activity and transaction volumes so that people who need to move can get moved.
