Wow, OT thriller! We have a France/USA gold medal basketball double feature.
My wife and I will be cheering for Les Bleus, but my dual US/CAN kid is still team USA😲. All of us are thankful to the Olympic heroes who went the extra mile to reunite a girl w/ her fox.

They would be better off.
Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too.

We will not tolerate illegal dumping in Alberta.
Last year Calgary alone got about 30,000 complaints about illegal dumping. Piles left on roadsides, on farmland, on private property. Illegal dumping is not a victimless crime. Somebody always pays to clean it up and it is almost never the person who did it. The people stuck with the bill are the landowners, the municipalities and the taxpayers.
This fall we are bringing in the toughest penalties in the country. Fines up to $100,000 for individuals and up to $1 million for corporations, plus jail time of up to six months.
Albertans take pride in their communities. Our laws should back that up, and our cities deserve better than this.

I mean...our dairy industry is infamously terrible. A living example of misguided statist economic theory leading to a terrible system that hurts ordinary consumers, yet is difficult to wind down due to lobbying, rent seeking, and political calculus.
But do go on, sir.

NDP MP Dick Proctor overheard an inflight conversation that sparked a national scandal theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…
Never expected to enjoy reading my Dad's obit, but it is so well told by @tomhawthorn
It's been a sad month, but the stories within (several were new to me) made me smile. Thank you

We've lost a beloved member of the NDP family. Dick Proctor was an MP, a provincial and federal secretary, and worked with many great New Democrats, from Ed Broadbent and Jack Layton to Roy Romanow and Allan Blakeney.
I’ll always remember him as the funny and lovable sportswriter who was along for the ride on my dad Stephen Lewis’s unforgettable 1975 Ontario campaign. My sister Ilana and I spent countless hours on the bus with Dick, playing word games and having long conversations with a gentle and wise adult who took us seriously.
We are all mourning the loss of an honest and principled New Democrat who infused every role he played with wit, intelligence and sensitivity. We send our love and condolences to Merran and the whole family.

Devastated to learn of the death last night of Dick Proctor, a former journalist, union organizer, political strategist, NDP MP and dearest friend of my late parents since he and my dad were Carleton Ravens. Dick died last night in Victoria per lovely note from his son Benn.

I will believe that a Canadian politican or a Canadian pundit is serious about how monopolies make food prices higher than they should be the minute they start pointing their fingers at the Dairy Cartel as the absolute worst example.
