Amazing research using #CRISPR to create Neanderthal brains in a Petri dish. The study used organoids which are models and not an entire brain - but imagine being able to observe chemical signals in real time from a species that went extinct!
There are many genetic differences between our brains and Neanderthal's, so how far can single base editing take us? What are the trade-offs we need to consider in research like this?
