Paris - a densely populated world capital - is repurposing vehicle travel lanes for active transportation all throughout its core!

One of these vehicles is seen as a symbol of an elitist lifestyle that imposes itself on society and takes away the freedom of others.
The other is a car.

Huge turnout for @activeguelph AGM tonight! @JennieJuste and @CamGuthrie as keynote speakers, sharing key takeaways from Copenhagen.
Congrats to GCAT @activeguelph on another successful #bikethenight event! I met pirates, airplanes, and doggos and adored the atmosphere of this family-friendly ride 🚲🚨🥳
I was lucky enough to get a personalized tour of Utrecht from the one and only @lennartnout. Started at Utrecht Centraal, which has recently built capacity for 12,500 bikes accommodated on three levels (which are all accessible by bike, naturally).
The main library in Gouda has a lovely cafe on the main floor and a large patio area out front. I adore these #stickyplaces
The attention to detail, and commitment to making things pleasant, or at the very least interesting to look at is phenomenal. This is the central train station in Utrecht.

Have spent the last three weeks in the @CityOfVictoria. They’ve made impressive progress on the cycling network - many photos and thoughts to come, but for now enjoy a roughly three minute time lapse of an Advisory Bike Lane in action.
Great to see the bike valet in action at @RibfestGuelph. Thanks GCAT @activeguelph for offering this service again this year!

Our GCAT bike ride in collaboration with @cityofguelph staff for our #bikemonth kickoff event was really fun. We explored our river trails ,secret alleys and quiet residential streets. Thanks @MadeleineMyhill @JennieJuste @benitavanm @thatjamesgordon @orourke_ward6 @JuneHofland
Cycling could be the most simple, obvious, direct, comfortable and pleasant mode in North American cities too. We need to deconstruct the illusion that transportation is a choice, and acknowledge the myriad ways in which community and infrastructure DESIGN makes the choice for us

The sensory experience of being in a low-car city can’t be communicated through a photograph.
The sounds of church bells, chirping birds, and cheerful conversations. The smells of budding flowers, blossoming trees, and busy kitchens.
