For those of us Florida teachers staying to fight the good fight, it’s another tough day. For a state that wants “parent rights”, they sure are censoring the course choices of thousands of students and parents.

The record gliding distance of the southern flying squirrel is about 100 yards. On average, they are 10ish inches long. If one southern flying squirrel can hurl their body a distance 360 TIMES ITS SIZE,,, you can get through this week. Crazier things have happened.
ALT A young southern flying squirrel clings to the bark of a tree, waiting the opportune moment to launch and descend with style. This photo is taken by our friend and coworker, Jena Donnell.

Since the classroom teacher is more important to the success of a student than the programs, curriculum, or technology, that means teacher morale is more important than the programs, curriculum, or technology.
💯 Reagan and his administration are the root cause of many of today’s societal ills. Long 🧵, but a necessary read.

The 2023 AP Research scores: 5: 13%; 4: 26%; 3: 45%; 2: 13%; 1: 3%. Congrats to this year’s AP Research students and teachers, who have achieved all-time high scores in this subject, 84% earning scores of 3 or higher.

There's a lot to celebrate in the AP Lit results this year. Students showed us that they most certainly can negotiate challenging and sophisticated texts, can analyze, and can write, especially when they’re guided by committed teachers who believe in their potential. #LitMatters!

The 2023 AP Seminar scores: 5: 11%; 4: 20%; 3: 57%; 2: 11%; 1: 1%. Many schools are merging AP Seminar with English 10 to build skills; as a result, it’s this year’s fastest growing AP subject (30% increase). Even with such growth, 88% earned scores of 3+, same as last year.
This is what strong, positive leadership looks like. Thank you for the inspiration! #APReading #ProudTeacher #LiteratureMatters
My message to the #APLit readers after our successful 2023 reading.
Thank you, everyone, for what you've done for the students this week, reading carefully, accurately, and respectfully, from the first essay to the last. See you in 2024. Until then, be a #proudteacher!
Day #1 of the online reading for #APResearch. My coworkers are present and they seem to be team players. Morale is high, but then again I just shared my cheez-its with them, so this could be a false sense of community based solely on snack choices. Time will tell.

So they ban my book from young readers, confuse me with @oprah , fail to specify what parts of my poetry they object to, refuse to read any reviews, and offer no alternatives…Unnecessary #bookbans like these are on the rise, and we must fight back 👊🏿 DONATE here: instagram.com/linking/fundra…
