The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) supports member countries to translate infrastructure ambitions into bankable, investment ready projects, particularly through stronger project preparation, co financing and greater mobilisation of private capital.
Held a bilateral meeting with Zou Jiayi, President and Chair of the Board of Directors of AIIB, at the 11th Annual Meeting of the Bank in Doha, State of Qatar.
Kenya is a new non-regional member of AIIB and seeks to use it to advance strategic infrastructure projects that strengthen connectivity, trade, and economic productivity. These include dualling the Mau Summit to Malaba Road, a key section of the Northern Corridor, as well as priority investments in transport, energy and digital connectivity.

PS Dr Chris Kiptoo @DrChrisKiptoo has arrived in Doha, Qatar, to represent Kenya at the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) @AIIB_Official, scheduled for 28–29 September 2026.
Kenya’s participation comes as the country seeks to deepen cooperation with AIIB on long term infrastructure financing and technical support for priority investments. The engagement will provide an opportunity to advance financing partnerships that can strengthen connectivity, attract investment, expand economic opportunities and support sustainable growth.
The Annual Meeting, held under the theme “Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation,” brings together member governments, policymakers, business leaders, investors, development partners and other stakeholders to shape discussions on sustainable infrastructure financing, cross border connectivity, private capital mobilisation and digital transformation.
For Kenya, the meeting provides a platform to connect its infrastructure priorities with international capital, expertise and strategic partnerships, with the objective of moving priority investments from development needs to bankable projects that can deliver jobs, stronger economic linkages and long term growth.
PS Dr Chris Kiptoo was received in Doha by H.E. Mohamed Nur Adan, Ambassador of Kenya to Qatar, and joined by Amb. Willy Bett, Kenya’s Ambassador to China.
Kenya’s engagement with AIIB forms part of its broader approach to mobilising development finance and partnerships for infrastructure and productive investment, while strengthening the foundations for a more connected and competitive economy.
