Whenever someone starts off saying something with "Honestly, I..." I kinda feel like they're about to tell me a lie. 😂🙃🤪😔

Prompt image generated by Ben Bloch image modeler: "A high mountain lake with mountains in the background reflecting the morning sky" The rest is time lapse of me working a hand made version on canvas. At the end I liked the touch of adding a little wind on the water.

I wondered, what might these images based on a “Ben Bloch” visual language model have to offer to a landscape painter? What would happen if I reversed the feedback loop and re-rendered them in paint on canvas?

What could AI—which is, after all, a human creation—have to tell us about our own human designs? Out of dozens of outputs, I selected nine to re-render in my own hand. This series is the result.

For the past year or so I've been working on a project where--with the help of the amazing @obliojoe --I trained an AI image modeler exclusively on my past paintings. Then I gave it text prompts to make "Ben Bloch images" of any scene I described.

The results were pretty interesting. Then I took it a step further by stretching large canvases and painting (in the traditional sense) a selection of the images it was producing. I'm excited to share the results now.

Each of the 9 large paintings in this series are on my website, with some time lapse videos and a bit of a fuller explanation of the project. Hope you have a chance to check it out! benbloch.com/make-me-a-lands…
