NEW: Seattle’s mayor ran as a democratic socialist. Then she ran into reality.
Katie Wilson has been hobbled by a $175 million deficit, staff upheaval and a steep learning curve on public safety, the city's most intractable issue.
While New York under Mamdani makes for an easy comparison, it’s San Francisco that has become the envy of Seattle officials. A top adviser went there last month to study Daniel Lurie's tactics on crime.

The retiring Republican congressman that Flippo is trying to replace, Mark Amodei, has yet to endorse Flippo and told me just now he will “absolutely not” back him.
“The guy is a fraud. … I’m not having my last action walking out the door to hug a guy who I think is a fraud.”
Exclusive to @washingtonpost: David Flippo, a Republican congressional candidate in Nevada, inflated his military record multiple times in recent years by claiming he received a Bronze Star “for valor” during his two-decade Air Force career.

In 1975, 27-year-old Stephen Burbank became Penn’s first in-house lawyer. Today, the office he started is a far cry from a one-man operation.

The Democratic Senate nominees in deep-red states withdrew from the ballot after their primaries, clearing the field for independent candidates.
But this strategy failed where Democrats thought it had the best chance of working: Montana. wapo.st/45ubOBW

El-Sayed obviously didn't put up Bernie numbers in rural Michigan. But he held his own in small-town and rural counties, and only lost suburban counties to Stevens by 5 points (!).
That, plus his total dominance in Ann Arbor/Grand Rapids/etc, was enough for the win.

If you're under 30, you may have seen Hinge start taking over the dating app scene.
But no amount of hype for Hinge seems to be enough for Wall Street, whose eyes are only on Tinder—even with Gen Z saying they get tired of Tinder right after opening it.
