what’s it all about….

Unionists were asked to do what they could not and that was to vote for the Good Friday Agreement and accept terrorists in Government. And we still have 3 convicted terrorists as MLA's today, all of whom are in Sinn Fein. That's a bitter pill to swallow. Just ask the victims. This is despite no apologies or regrets. Quite the opposite in fact. Instead there is glorification of past acts of terrorism. Think about that for a second. How do you think that looks to your neighbours and friends? To the victims? Bombers and attempted murderers are making decisions in our wee country. I still can't get over that I voted for the GFA. Would I have done so with hindsight? I don't know. Probably. The lives saved have to have been worth it. Yet a community "cannot" allow 35 men down a road at 8am in the morning. And now the ruling has been made to ban it against the backdrop of the threat of violence. The triumphalism now being displayed is not unexpected. It's been an eye opening moment. Northern Ireland isn't as far forward as it thinks it is and a United Ireland is further away than ever. Extreme Republicanism tore off the pretence of being accommodating, of wanting a shared future and instead have become everything they hated and campaigned against during the civil rights marches. Regardless, a precedent has now been set and it's not a good one. It makes me more fearful for the future, not less. That's the truly sad part.

In a nut shell. Unionism asked a community to do what it cannot and will not do and that is to draw a line under the suffering and murder caused by terrorists. It refused and it resisted. Lawful or not, it refused. So called ministers reverted to type and chose their sides. Sin e

Unlike others I went to Portadown in the direct aftermath of the Quinn children's murder. I saw for myself the damage done. I also see now the exploitation of residents and whipping up of tension. There is a world of difference between 1998 and 2026 - principally that SF signed up to policing and the courts. Those in elected office don't get to cherry pick it when it suits them. The type of dangerous rhetoric playing out now gets people hurt, injured and killed.

Please share ❤️🤍💙 Carter Kidd sadly lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday morning, aged just 14. 💔 A huge Rangers fan, Carter should have been at Sunday’s game. Please help us get a minute’s applause on the 14th minute to honour this brave young man. 🙏❤️🤍💙 #FOREVER14CK

30 August 2011. Near Sukmanda, Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand. K Company, 42 Commando. 40 years old. Baz was born in Reading on 27 February 1971. He joined the Corps on 30 September 1991 and was one of the fittest in his recruit troop. Twenty years in: Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Iraq. Reconnaissance operator. Platoon Weapons Instructor. Recruit Troop Sergeant. He was a Cpl on my training team and I received both his jokes and his thrashings on my journey to the green lid. In May 2011 he volunteered at short notice as a battle casualty replacement and went out to Afghanistan. He was dropped in as a multiple commander in one of the hardest parts of K Company’s ground. His men called him a father figure. They followed him into Sukmanda again and again. He was leading a patrol when an IED killed him. He left his wife Joanne and their three daughters, Jasmine, Poppy and Rose. The family said they were devastated — and proud. He died doing the job he loved. His commanding officer called him one of the finest senior NCOs in the Corps, on the cusp of promotion, still with so much to give. Sergeant Barry John Weston. K Company, 42 Commando Royal Marines. 27 February 1971 – 30 August 2011. Gone but not forgotten Baz, see you at the reorg.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Jens Hjerto Dahl only wants Rangers + close to club-to-club agreement. The Norwegian U21 star has agreed personal terms after making it clear Ibrox is his preferred destination, believing he can thrive under the manager. McInnes has fully convinced the player of the project. Dahl has also turned down personal terms from both Celtic and Cardiff, despite both offers being more inticing, financially. Rangers have seen two bids rejected but are now closing in on Tromsø's valuation after significant progress in talks over the last 24 hours. Club-to-club negotiations continue, with Rangers also pushing through outgoings to free up the funds for a deal worth around €7.8m guaranteed, plus add-ons.

Steve was 19 years old when he was badly wounded in a bomb explosion in Belfast whilst serving with The Royal Anglian Regiment. In collaboration with The Royal Anglian Regiment and the limbless veterans’ charity BLESMA, our charity contributed £2,000 towards a new ramp so that Steve could exit his bungalow kitchen area more easily. Ignore the pot holes - talk about border polls. Debate the Middle East, but fail to ensure there is salt in the grit box when people need it. It’s clear politics needs a reset and a relentless focus on fixing issues here in Northern Ireland.
