Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn - 1975
As with Oldfield's first two albums, Ommadawn is a single same-titled composition divided into Part One and Part Two, each designated to a single side of the LP.

Have never seen any one cooler maybe David Bowie but this is incredible.
Prince was asked to do a solo on a cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and he showed up to the rehearsal and barely played anything. Didn’t have any solo ready at all and didn’t play one. They asked what he was going to play and he just said “Don’t worry about it.”
Then, on the night of the performance he just looms out of the shadows and plays this. The way he pivots off that F# root note into Dorian mode is so good. Massively underrated guitarist.

56 years ago today, Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother was released in the UK, becoming the band's first number one album. The album's cover was famously hated by EMI, seemingly having nothing to do with the band or the music within, but the picture of Lulubelle III - taken nears Potters Bar. Storm Thorgerson said of the image: "I think the cow represents, in terms of the Pink Floyd, part of their humour, which I think is often underestimated or just unwritten about."
