Maybe the tariffs were stupid all along?
US-owned steel plant with a plant in Middletown OH begins mass layoffs amid Trump tariffs:
In a memo sent by Cleveland-Cliffs to workers, the company explicitly linked the move to Trump's steel tariffs on Canada, which it said had "significantly shrunk the market" for its products.

Cleveland-Cliffs' layoffs (up to 500 workers) are at its Stelco plant in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, due to US tariffs on Canadian steel imports. Its Middletown, Ohio plant has no such layoffs and is receiving a $1B upgrade investment.

Cleveland-Cliffs is laying off workers at its Stelco steel plant in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, not in Middletown, Ohio. The company attributed the decision to U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel reducing its market. Its CEO has said he supports those tariffs.

Gen Z is facing a housing crisis, economic uncertainty, and a government that keeps promising to fix both.
Reagan’s lesson still stands: Washington isn’t the solution. It’s usually the problem.

Marc Andreessen reveals why housing, health care, and education keep getting more expensive while everything else gets cheaper
"There's basically three components to the American dream. A house near great job opportunities, great health care for you and your family, and sending your kids to good schools"
"If you disaggregate the economy over the last 25 years, everything that technology touches basically collapses in price. Television sets, computer games, anything with electronics in it. But if you chart housing, education, and health care, the prices of those things are skyrocketing"
"The government restricts supply, zoning laws and university certifications. And then the government responds to the political pressure caused by the rising prices by subsidizing demand. And of course, if you subsidize demand and a fixed supply, you get skyrocketing prices"

We're the most technically advanced civilization in history. And the least competent at the same time.
SpaceX can catch a rocket. Delta can't land you at JFK on time, makes you rawdog the flight, and loses your bag.
Amazon gets you a package in 4 hours. The DMV needs 6 weeks for a license.
AI can pass the bar exam. Public schools can't teach kids how to do basic math.
Your watch can detect AFib. Your insurance needs 3 weeks to approve a visit.
Your car can spot a pedestrian and brake on its own. Your city can't keep needles off the sidewalk.
AI can design a new protein. Your hospital can't send you a correct bill.
AI can draw a building in minutes. The city takes three years to approve a duplex.
Satellites and cameras can track a car across the city. A man with 30 arrests walks out the next morning.

Yes, I know the world could be ending soon. But what if, and hear me out, what if we prepare for the possibility that it doesn’t? Just in case.

Looks like the TV people are trying to scare you with "record margin debt" again. It makes a great terrifying headline. But put it into context and margin debt is actually historically low. We covered this last month: “The Chart Designed To Scare You.” trendlabs.com/this-chart-is-…

Bernie is so funny. He went to college his freshman year and heard one line from a commie professor and made it his entire personality for the rest of his life. Absolutely not a single policy in five decades that’s useful or helps the American people just banal communist talking points about “Oligarchs”
The level of income and wealth inequality in the U.S. is beyond insane.
The top 0.00001% (just 20 households) now owns over $4 trillion — more than 12 times the wealth of the bottom 50% COMBINED.
We must defeat oligarchy. Billionaire wealth tax NOW.

Senator, please do not lump them together. Some are doing it right. Why not call for a pact to say all should adopt the standards of the ones doing it in a way you would salute and appreciate. I urge you to praise the good and not just knock the bad. Please be more constructive. Thank you

ABC won't talk to me in person even when I track down a news truck full of reporters!
Replying to @ABC
@ABC News continues to lie, this time privately to their friends in the press. This was a coordinated influence operation planted by our competition, not "premature publication".
7:01 AM October 7th, story goes live. Within minutes, dozens of high-profile commentators, politicians, and news outlets are sharing it with tens of millions of followers. We immediately contact ABC and demand they correct their false claims - after multiple rounds of refusal, they finally make a single one-word grammar edit. The editors stand by the reporting and insist the false claims are true.
Finally, eight hours after I was forced to call them out publicly, they delete everything. The editors hide all the comments, the author deletes his X account, and the story is completely wiped from their website without any explanation, directly violating SPJ ethics standards and ABC's own internal rules.
ABC is currently running a coverup operation, ignoring all of our requests for correction/retraction while telling their buddies to spread the word that this was nothing more than a CMS publication timeline error.

This is bad. @ABC must take responsibility for their failed journalism. Basic journalistic ethics requires it.
A quiet unexplained withdrawal of a false article does not constitute a proper error correction.

There are people who hate the President of the U.S. so much that they’ve actually been rooting for the stock market to fall just so they can say, “I told you so.” A lot of these sociopaths work in media, on basic cable or write for newspapers. Just know who you’re listening to.

🔴 Amy Acton, a Doctor, reported just $0.62 in interest income on her 2025 financial disclosure.
⚪️ Now she is asking nearly 12 million Ohioans to trust her with governing a state whose budget approaches $100 BILLION.
Can anyone in their right mind explain to Ohioans:
🔵How on earth is Amy prepared to handle the finances of a state with a budget of nearly $100 BILLION?
Ohio needs an ECONOMIC POWERHOUSE. Ohio needs Vivek. 🔴⚪️🔵
Economic growth should mean more than giving taxpayer dollars to billionaires, corporations, and special interests.
It should mean supporting small businesses, investing in our workforce, and creating good-paying jobs that allow Ohioans to build a life right here at home.
That’s the kind of economy I’ll fight for.

this is him explaining how he got $50 million of Lilly stock for a company worth a million and a half, the 3,000 Home Depot floor workers who skipped college and are multimillionaires today, and the price he says Lilly reaches in the next three or four years
