I think I'm due a blade runner rewatch

gpt model's obsession with "efficiency" and tokens per tasks seems to have made them really annoying in harder tasks because it keeps replying to me and wasting time instead of actually tackling anything meaningful

been feeling the same. years of polishing my personal toolkit and editor config to be faster at things flushed down the drain in an instant
i feel so torn up that SO MUCH of my knowledge is now useless? every single C trick i've ever learned. my encyclopaedic knowledge of the verilog standard. all the maths i ever learned. what was it all for. :( my entire pre-LLM output is like a few months of clauding. like wtf.

funny side note, i finished the commandoes without knowing any English. mostly guessing the mission objective/trial and error

We rewrote an internal thing from Zig to JavaScript and it got faster and more reliable. The obvious conclusion is that language doesn’t matter. Rewriting does. You should be rewriting everything all the time.

open source collaboration with ai is weird. PRs written with ai usually have a lot more changes and assumptions in them than it's reasonable to merge as is, and going back and forth takes way too long. i prefer to extract the useful part myself using ai than do this

i miss the slow times so much

I've been reflecting on this. I'm generally a very optimistic person, but lately I've been feeling a strange sense of sadness that coding has been "solved". I can, and have, made many caveats to "solved"... but I also know that in five years none of them will matter. It will be solved. Building things is still fun, but a different kind of fun. It doesn't activate the same parts of my brain as trad coding did. I think it's okay to mourn the thing we loved doing being different now. Software was the first job to go through the five AI stages of grief, which means we're also some of the first to internalize that this will happen to many other jobs. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

i play blitz chess in-between talking to ai and it sucks so much. never do this. you'll be less productive and more tired
Chads.. you can now chat and vibe code with Claude while playing WoW Forever. Open a chat window in game, send Claude a task, go back to leveling. It pings you when it's done. No alt-tab, no /reload. Link below. #worldofwarcraft @Asmongold wow-claude

News flash, asshole, I internalized it the whole god damn time.
i don't think nearly anyone, myself included, has truly internalized there'll soon be a machine better than us in every single intellectual & physical capacity deep down we all share a feeling that our 'entrepreneurship' or 'taste' or... is special & safe. it isn't. it's over

I can't believe flake is still experimental
imagine a nixos without: 1. the idealism that leads to disabling unfree software by default 2. the directionlessness that leads to nearly decade-old "experimental" features 3. the ergonomic blindness that leads to having to type "'nixpkgs#thing'" on the CLI

openai better have sth incredible for dev day
I made my own visualizer for the major models we're using for agents today. All the data is from Artificial Analysis. I just cleaned up the visualizer and added linear/log toggles for costs. Really shows how cheap Luna is. I feel like the log scale hides that.

MiMo-V2.6-Pro debuts as the top open weights model on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index (46). At $0.13 per Intelligence Index task, it lands on the Intelligence vs. Cost per Task Pareto frontier @Xiaomi has just released MiMo-V2.6-Pro, an open weights model with major advances in intelligence over its predecessor, MiMo-V2.5-Pro (Intelligence Index: 26). Despite the improvement, it retains the same attractive pricing at $0.435 per 1M input tokens (with a 99% cache-hit discount) and $0.87 per 1M output tokens. This makes MiMo-V2.6-Pro one of the most cost-efficient models to deploy. MiMo-V2.6-Pro is an MoE model with 1.02T total parameters and 42B active parameters. Stay tuned for additional analysis of the model. Check out MiMo-V2.6-Pro full benchmarking breakdown here: artificialanalysis.ai
