belated reflection on YouTube 5K subs:
- On my trilemma video, a high school student said the same topic appeared in their Korean literature exam. These exams are usually supervised by the Ministry of Education, so it was wild to see crypto topics entering classrooms.
- Crypto interest is at a low, but if you keep shipping, someone notices. Subs keep rising, and our algorithm score (based on Vling) is high; higher than many channels I monitor.
- Consistency pays off, cut the noise. Running a YouTube channel brings endless opinions about what to do next. Valuable feedback helps, but I treat it as fuel, not a steering wheel.
- At some point, you start recognizing the “regulars” who keep showing up and leaving comments. Sometimes I wonder why they take time to cheer us on. Then I realize oh right, I do the same for @doodles lol
Growing a YouTube channel caught in 4k. Thoughts:
- Sometimes I am amazed people actually subscribe. Other times I wonder why it is only a few thousand, because when I go outside I see crowds of people and think, if only a handful subscribed. It can always be more. Top Korean crypto channels have 30–300k subs.
- Becoming a @YouTube Partner comes with a dip in impressions. Many creators see it. Frustrating at first, but also the test of perseverance. After about 3 weeks, traction returned.
- I also noticed a major Korean crypto exchange upload a video 99% identical in style (editing, etc) to mine. It reminds me there is space to keep improving and that I made the right choice to start 3 months ago.
