Done correctly and spent effectively, this will help reduce conflicts, limit their impact on promoting migration and seeking asylum, and demonstrate the contribution that liberal democracies can make to international development, cooperation and security.

Growth is the priority – now delivery must follow. Business welcomes Andy Burnham’s focus on growth, innovation, trade & apprenticeships. Ambition must be matched by delivery & investment-friendly policies. To drive growth business costs must be tackled. cbi.org.uk/media-centre/arti…

Stay classy, Kemi.
Kemi Badenoch calls the women around Andy Burnham his "handmaidens" as she punches the bruise that Labour has never had a female leader.

Fitting resignation speech. Voice cracking with emotion at the end as he spoke of his wife Victoria as his rock. You did indeed rid the Labour Party of the poison of antisemitism. So grateful for your willingness and openness to speak with media, including Jewish News. Always found you to be a warm, decent and honest person. You should hold your head up high now.

The rise of anti Jewish hatred in society needs tackling urgently and workplaces are no exception. Yesterday, with business representatives and leaders from Jewish organisations, we discussed practical actions to make sure Jewish people both are and feel safe at work, from mobilising the voice of industry to better training. This is the start of a joint programme of work because for too long tackling this has been put in the 'too hard' box.

We are deeply shocked by the terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester yesterday. Our condolences go to all those affected. This tragedy is a stark reminder that rising extremism threatens communities, social cohesion, and the charities that support them.

Nearly Xmas but @NCVO we’re making sure the rise in employer National Insurance contributions stays in headlines: another front page today. This will cost the sector £1.4bn a year. Charity leaders are going to be making some tough decisions about budgets for next year.

Less than three weeks since the election, it was fantastic to start the day with a meeting with new @DCMS SoS @lisanandy and @JaneIdeCEO. Nothing more energising than discussing the endless ways charities can play a vital role in helping government achieve its missions.

Amazing to be having these important discussions so early into a new parliament. Our sector can, and will, be a vital partner to government in achieving its missions. Our members know how to solve some of the country's biggest issues, because they do it every day.

If you believe in Israel and Palestine existing side by side, then you are a Zionist. Zionism is the belief that Jews have the right to their own homeland. Not that anyone else doesn’t. That’s why anti-Zionism is not just criticism of the Israeli government. Anti-Zionism means advocating for the destruction of my country and my people.

Great to hear ministers valuing the role charities play. Our sector has the experience and understanding to solve some of society's biggest issues, because they tackle them every day. Early collaboration with the sector means better decision-making and, ultimately, bigger impact.
Replying to @Steph_Peacock
Working in partnership with charities will be vital in delivering the government's missions to halve knife crime in a decade and improve young people's mental health. Collaborating with the sector to develop our Young Futures hubs will be essential in achieving this.
