Notice that Schumer is pushing off a commitment to end the war until NEXT YEAR. But @VanHollenForMD and @RoKhanna are calling on Democrats to block the funding that comes with the continuing resolution on December 11th.
CNN: Schumer vows to end Iran war and investigate Trump when Democrats control Congress Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer vowed Democrats will end the war in Iran through the “power of the purse” next year when they take control of the Senate. “We are going to end the war. We’ve got some Republicans who have joined us in ending the war and the Founding Fathers had the power of the purse as one of the ways of deterring a president who does war without the consent of the American people,” Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference, a day after Democrats won the majority in the chamber.

Some great news for factory-farmed pigs last night. In Iowa and Kansas, voters rejected the lead sponsors of the Save Our Bacon Act in both the House and Senate: Rep. Ashley Hinson and Sen. Roger Marshall. These were the politicians who did the pork lobby’s bidding and tried to wipe out every state ban on selling pork from crated pigs. Yet even in two of the most pro-agriculture states in the country, it cost them more votes than it won them. The politicians who follow the factory farming lobby aren’t as safe as they thought.

No matter how many times the left points out they're "team players," they'll always be treated as outsiders bc their ideology is out of step with the corporate Zionist Democratic leadership. The Dem establishment intentionally pushes this "lefties hurt Dems" narrative to marginalize the economic populist policies they support. This is a structural/material issue, not a comms problem. Leftists need to stop trying to prove what good little soldiers they'll be and actually leverage their power to force Democrats' hand.
The left is constantly accused of not being "team players," when they are. But the reality is the corporate wing of the Democratic Party has always been the one that will go out if its way to squash a politics that puts regular people ahead of corporate interests.

The meat industry tries very hard to keep cameras out of factory farms and slaughterhouses -- and a new undercover video shows why. Some day, our descendants will wonder about our collective blind spot to animal cruelty. A gift link to my column: nytimes.com/2026/10/17/opini…

Israeli settlers are out of control, because the Israeli government allows them to be. And while attacks on diplomats or journalists command attention, as they should, this happens unnoticed to Palestinian farmers all the time.
#Breaking: European diplomats, including French and Polish representatives, who went to the West Bank to observe the olive harvest, have been violently assaulted by Israeli settlers.

Nine Americans have been killed by Israeli occupiers since 2022, & Israel has killed over 260 journalists since 2023 -- 2/3rds of all conflict-related journalist deaths. Politicians who support giving aid to Israel do not deserve your vote. They are not our "ally" & they are not a democracy.
“Let me die,” American photojournalist Heidi Levine repeats to journalists Jasper Nathaniel as they try to outrun masked Israeli settlers who attacked her on Friday while she covered the olive harvest in the West Bank village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah. Around 80 settlers attacked Palestinian olive harvesters in the village, AP reported. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated six people injured in two attacks in Abu Falah. Levine, a freelancer for the Washington Post, told the Committee to Protect Journalists that the settlers knocked her down and kicked her for at least 10 minutes, even after she identified herself as an American journalist. They stole her camera, phone and bag. She was eventually taken to a hospital in Ramallah. "The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat" Levine "nearly to death," Nathaniel wrote, adding that soldiers then shot a Palestinian bystander and aimed their guns at and shoved paramedics trying to treat him. AP photos and circulating videos show Israeli soldiers standing over a wounded Palestinian man after they shot him. Andrey X, an activist also at the scene, said a Palestinian man "saved our lives from the settler-terrorists who attacked the olive harvesters and journalists” armed only with a slingshot.

Any minimally honest person would acknowledge that this raid is a flagrant abuse of state power and the domestic authorities of DHS against one of Trump's most outspoken critics, right near an election. The scurrilous claims about @IlhanMN have never had any basis in fact or evidence. Omar has lived in the US for more than 30 years: longer than Melania Trump, or Sebastian Gorka, or Steve Hilton, or countless GOP luminaries. She's lived in the US since she was 13. She's been a US citizen for more than 25 years. This has as much to do with immigration enforcement as the Trump/Rubio policy of deporting people for the crime of criticizing Israel: which is to say, none at all. It's all about feeding the MAGA base something to excite them and, especially, persecuting one of the most vocal critics of Trump and Israel.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026. At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day. It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime. Massacre at Minab: The School That Became a Grave dropsitenews.com/p/minab-sch… Please share this story with as many people as you can.

“Would you like to request voluntary departure, or should I issue a removal order?” The judge asked. “I don’t know,” Angel, 13, replied before bursting into tears. He stared ahead stoically and continued to cry, eventually saying: “I have no one. I have nothing.”
NEW: In a Texas courtroom Monday, 25 migrant children lined the pews — a 9yo rested her head on the table, a 6yo pretended to fly an airplane, and a 3yo played with the mic. Many in attendance didn't have an attorney — and a 13yo was ordered removed. A look inside, thru sketches.

If you were Israeli leaders, and believed you were being globally accused of crimes you didn't commit in Gaza, what's the first thing you'd do? Urge the international media to go to Gaza and report the truth. But if you know the accusations are true, you'd ban international media from reporting freely. That's what Israel is doing even a year after a "cease-fire," and the reason could not be more obvious.

We are 10 months into a "ceasefire" that has been religiously abided by Hamas & religious violated by Israel. So the @nytimes platforms the darling of the American Jewish-Zionist establishment, Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, to explain how the root cause of all bad in the world is Hamas. 1. The piece is littered with arguments quite literally pulled out of Alkhatib's ass, bereft of any evidence: "As the horrors continued, the people of Gaza made it clearer, despite repression from Hamas, that they were disgusted with the group and wanted it out." Yes, we know that's what you want to believe, what you want to be true, Mr. Alkhatib. The only evidence presented in the piece to support the idea that 2 million Palestinians in Gaza "made it clear" "they were disgusted with the group" is a single April 2025 BBC article citing a handful of Hamas critics in Gaza and a few hundred anti-Hamas protestors in Beit Lahiya. 2. The piece is also littered with lies: a) Alkhatib: "Hamas severed Gaza from the West Bank." hunhhh????????????????????? Either Alkhatib is using the words "Hamas" and "Israel" synonymously or his brain is composed of chemically manufactured horse manure. b) Alkhatib: he writes fondly of the Oslo Process, then adds, "all hallmarks of a march toward statehood that the Oslo Peace Process, however flawed, had ushered in... But it was not to be .... Israel pulled all its troops and settlements from the Gaza Strip. Two years later, in 2007, Hamas seized power" Here, Alkhatib wants you to believe the Oslo peace process might have been flawed but it was going great and on track after Disengagement in 2005, but everything went bad only after Hamas came to power in 2007. Of course, Alkhatib forgot to mention that the entire point of Disengagement (what he falsely calls "withdrawal") was TO BRING AN END TO THE PEACE PROCESS: As Ariel Sharon's senior advisor Dov Weisglass explained in October 2004: "The significance of the disengagement plan is the freezing of the peace process… And when you freeze that process, you prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and you prevent a discussion on the refugees, the borders and Jerusalem." lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v36/n15/… Alas, his main argument is that "Gaza has no future as long as Hamas holds two million Palestinians hostage to its nihilistic agenda." If you think that Israel is going to turn Gaza into a paradise for Palestinians once Hamas is gone -- as Alkhatib does -- you have been inflicted by the most dangerous form of brain cancer known to Homo Sapeins -- it's called Zionism.
This is how you know it’s all bullshit. Hamas accepted the BoP plan, agreed to hand over power to the committee the BoP selected, and agreed to disarm. Quite literally paving the path for the Gaza Ahmed wants. Yet Israel’s rejection of all the above is somehow Hamas’s fault too.

"¿Que clase de gente son los soldados israelíes que permiten que un niño de 14 años se desangre delante de ellos durante 40 o 45 minutos de agonía? ¿Que clase de personas son sus mandos militares que fomentan que se desangren niños?". Chris Sidoti, de la Comisión de Investigación de la ONU, denuncia el sadismo de los soldados sionistas, que dejaron que un niño palestino de 14 años se desangrara hasta la muerte mientras lo observaban.

As you watch this demonic snuff film from DHS I want you to understand: The men they have put in chains here were living and working in the US under LEGAL status. They were paying taxes. They were building community. They built businesses and had families. They are, in every meaningful sense of the word, Americans. And for no other reason than it seems to be sexually gratifying to Stephen Miller to make other humans suffer for his personal entertainment, their legal status was taken away, and our government is chaining them up to ship them back to a failed state that is SO dangerous *our own State Department* has issued a Level IV "DO NOT TRAVEL" order. We are sending these men, in chains, back to certain death. Whatever version of Hell exists, it's too good a fate for the monsters responsible for this. From Donald Trump and Stephen Miller and Markwayne Mullin all the way on down to the masked chuds joyriding in this video and loading these men onto planes...all of them are guilty and all of them should be prosecuted.

🚨Aid coalition chief: Israel blocks wheelchairs, prosthetics, watermelons, and fresh produce from entering Gaza Athena Rayburn, executive director of the Association of International Development Agencies, which represents more than 100 humanitarian and development NGOs operating in the occupied Palestinian territory, detailed Israel’s sweeping restrictions on aid during a UN Security Council briefing Wednesday. 🔹Israel rejects scissors, crutches, wheelchairs and prosthetic limbs as “dual-use,” bars medical specialists and restricts engine oil so severely that its price has risen to 45 times normal levels, bringing aid operations to “an absolute breaking point,” Rayburn said. 🔹Israeli authorities have also rejected watermelon and onions under an unpublished “humanitarian policy,” deregistered more than 30 international aid groups and repeatedly moved the supposedly fixed Yellow Line, cutting access to at least 85 water points, schools and health clinics. “Humanitarian assistance, by its nature, cannot be conditioned,” Rayburn said, noting Israel was shrinking “almost daily” the physical space in Gaza where aid groups can operate.
