Before and After in this messy alleyway here in Walsall. It took some hours to clear this, carrying the large pieces a long way back down the alleyway. Litter picking all the bits too and trekking them out. On the wall is a painted "no flytipping" sign

The BBC has a fascinating, broken relationship with commercial media - constantly taking its cues from an industry where most of the business models are in a long-term death spiral, and replicating their shoddy content, despite facing none of those constraints itself.

The moment Lord Collingwood's Union flag from the Battle of Trafalgar is revealed at Newcastle's Discovery Museum. It's on public display for the next two weeks (permanent exhibition coming next year). @HeritageFundUK and lots of donors have supported this.

The whole concept of allowing a baby to throw their food around while they eat is so foreign to me. When I have a children, I will handfeed them myself until they have the motor skills required to feed themselves without making a huge mess.

Because the BBC has faced 40% real terms cuts in the value of the licence fee since 2010, thanks to successive freezes & below-inflation funding deals imposed by Tory government during a period of constant inflation in media production costs.

Party to celebrate Ian Hislop's 40 years as editor of Private Eye & 65 years at the magazine. Has anyone currently in public life held the same job for longer? The Eye is the greatest journalistic institution of my lifetime. Long may Ian and the Eye reign.

Frozen my gym membership for a month as I won’t be able to use it post-surgery but @Virgin want a letter from a doctor - to them specifically - saying I can’t use the gym, before they will freeze it. For one month. Won’t accept confirmation of surgery. On what planet is any doctor going to say ‘sure - I’ll happily write a letter to you gym - I have nothing better to do with my time’. Insane policy Virgin - almost as insane as the choice to put your prices up whilst the facilities crumble. There’s a reason the gym is so empty these days.

New suicide figures have been published by @ONS: 5,738 suicides were registered for England in 2025. 75% were in men. 1 in 65 men die by suicide. And in the details: a politically sensitive concern, a small encouragement & an important point no media have mentioned. Short 🧵

Imagine being blocked by Currys for helping too many of its customers with complaints. 😂 I'll take that as an accolade and a compliment! As Black Friday and Christmas shopping approaches, please for the love of God, look at the replies and complaints on their X account and choose a proper retailer. You work hard for your money. Make sure you spend it wisely. 🛍️ #WePutOurCustomersLast #ConsumerRights

Hi @onelittleduck - you have a short-term right to reject within 30 days under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to get a full refund, no questions asked. You can do it by email. Contact your bank & make a chargeback to dispute the payment & say that Currys are in breach of contract under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Make your problem theirs. They can collect it at their expense - you don't have to pay to return it. #WePutOurCustomersLast #ConsumerRights
7 day old dishwasher doesn't work - it's dead - simple solution is that @currys replace it as they installed it. Oh no - 1.5hrs for customer care to say I need to video that the machine doesn't work; now have to wait after submitting video... bet they refer to manufacturer..
