Dear 2K Community, This is going to be a long one. I understand if reading this is not in your best interest. I felt compelled to respond to posts from this afternoon. If you know me, you know I’m a basketball fan who cares for this community. The earnings call is more revealing than the reactions have suggested. I know many expected to see a large decrease in earnings based on the months of seeing our peers stop spending or simply putting the game down. That just wasn’t going to be a reality. I’ll explain further. The presented strategy to shareholders for Q4 success is the “Special Inserts” addition to MyTEAM. This was a necessary move to divert attention away from the declining consumer base. This strategy, while compelling to limited consumers, was meant to represent the keen ability of Corporate leadership to pivot when earnings were declining more than anticipated after Q3. It was an intentional diversion from the actual strategy. The actual strategy was to make the game available for free to induce micro-transactions. If you downloaded a free copy, you had to make transactions to compete. Whether it be with cards or builds. Basically the strategy was to give away free cars with no tires, and they were the only place you could buy tires. Micro-transactions were inevitable resulting in the earnings reported today. This couldn’t be shared as their strategy to shareholders as there isn’t much decision making behind it. And as INCENTIVES are tied directly to MICRO-TRANSACTIONS, you can’t say we took the road of least resistance and just gave the game away. Thats how positions are lost. You have to represent sound business acumen for self preservation. The “Special Insert” strategy is just a charade to cover up the games decline. It is not sustainable and is doing more damage than shareholders are being told. What is revealing is the fact that even free, their unit “sales” were less than the first three quarters. I use quotes because they weren’t sales. They were free downloads used to mislead shareholders into believing the game is thriving. What is also telling is the fact that they boast 9 million unit sales, with 2 million consumers playing daily. That means that 78% of consumers have moved on or play at a very limited capacity. I’m certainly not calling the game dead, but it is not basking in the sun as some would have you believe. Corporate leadership is a nomadic group. For a reason, they present unsustainable strategies for immediate return resulting in their own financial success. Maybe I’m just a guy playing a video game in track pants and a hoodie. Or, just maybe, I put on a suit every morning and sit in a board room and listen to strategy after strategy of how to squeeze a penny out of a rock. And just maybe, I continue to see the highest officers implement their “get rich quick” strategies just to see new faces years down the road. Welcome to Corporate America. That is of course, if I sit that table. Take-Two is simply squeezing every resource out of their consumers and presenting unsustainable strategies as beneficial. Shareholders remain happy with their leadership team because they are delivering. They aren’t seeing past the veil created by an intelligent group of individuals who thrive on creating a narrative for a specific group of listeners. Look, you all play enough to know special inserts are pushing people away. You don’t need me or an earnings report to affirm that. Play, don’t play… that’s your choice. We don’t need an earnings report to see how far Take-Two leadership will go to preserve their roles. We know the turn the game made earlier this year. We know what shareholders don’t, this isn’t the game we loved. This isn’t a blueprint for success. It is just how Corporate greed is presented.
