More than a thousand days of genocide and ongoing suffering.. days where we resist death from hunger and oppression, searching for life amidst the ashes of war. Today, I am writing to you not to speak of the grand numbers of war, but of the most basic and harsh human right: a loaf of bread. We are a family struggling simply to survive; we need about 30 Shekels daily (roughly $10 USD) just to secure bread. With the disappearance of donations and the halt of all means of life, even this small amount has become impossible for us to afford. Because of this, we have been forced to search for scraps of paper and wood to light fires and bake bread manually using primitive methods, after our resources ran out and even those alternatives began to fade away. What hurts the soul even more than hunger is the feeling of loneliness and abandonment; sometimes I look at myself and can hardly believe that no one from Europe or the free world is speaking to me or hearing my voice until this moment. I beg you, do not leave us alone in this darkness. Speak to us, and make us feel safe, even with a single word.
