Batfish enables networks engineers to design and test networks like software, rapidly and without fear of outages and breaches.

Network configuration analysis has always been the domain of commercial-grade software. Batfish changes all that with an open source, community-supported tool that can find errors and guarantees the correctness of planned or current network configurations. Ratul Mahajan joins Tom Ammon and Russ White to talk about this new tool, its capabilities, and the importance of network configuration analysis. rule11.tech/hedge-213/

Made a few commits into Batfish this week and learned about ANTLR. Pretty cool stuff, looking forward to more of all that.

At SIGCOMM '23 tomorrow, Dan Halperin will present a paper that I can only describe as labor of love. It describes our key learnings while turning @batfish_ from a research toy to an industrial-strength network verification tool. dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/36032…

Yet another massive outage due to an avoidable routing configuration error. Yet another failure of a large infra provider to use proper testing.

The information comes from the report @Rogers submitted as a reply to the Request for Information by the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission) A link to the report can be found here crtc.gc.ca/otf/eng/2022/8000…

And with Batfish you can do much more than path verification, for both cloud and non-cloud networks and all before you change the network!
So cool to see network verification (slowly) becoming mainstream. 3 of 4 major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Oracle) now offer verification for their virtual networks. Personally cool that Oracle's capability builds on Batfish: tinyurl.com/msm9s3jn

Yes, looks like a text book case for Batfish
this reads very much like something open source Batfish from @intentionet is designed to catch
