The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted Bastion preliminary conditional approval for a national trust bank charter.
Since 2023, we’ve been building regulated stablecoin infrastructure for enterprises and financial institutions. We started with a money transmitter licenses, followed by our New York limited purpose trust charter for white-label stablecoin issuance, before the GENIUS Act was adopted, with a clear goal: give institutions a regulated foundation to build with stablecoins at scale.
“Enterprises and financial institutions want a safe way to build with stablecoins, with the same controls and oversight they already expect from their banks. We built Bastion for that from the start” Nassim Eddequiouaq, CEO of Bastion
Today’s decision moves that vision forward and brings large enterprises and financial institutions the regulated and secure infrastructure across stablecoin custody & wallets, payment infrastructure, and white-label issuance they need to build their own enterprise stablecoin programs.

3 words: security, compliance and scalability
We just signed a major corporate with OVER 1.5 BILLION APP DOWNLOADS to power their stablecoin ecosystem! 🚀🔥
We recently announced several wins: Samsung picking Bastion for its regulated stablecoin infrastructure on its flagship stablecoin account for 82M U.S. Galaxy devices with expansion plans, and obtaining our OCC conditional approval for a federally chartered trust bank. We’re now growing even faster.
I can’t share the name or details yet, but we’re getting more industry-defining wins, and it’s only accelerating.
Bastion has been building over the last few years the tools of mass adoption for stablecoins:
• Security
• Compliance
• Scalability
We excel in each of those areas.
Bastion is on an incredible trajectory and I can’t wait to share more.
If you’re a large enterprise building products that use stablecoins, Bastion has the single best platform to support you - let's talk now!

Bastion is partnering with @BiprogyInc the company behind Japan’s first public cloud-based core banking system, to pilot stablecoin treasury payments between Japan and the U.S.
BIPROGY plans to develop solutions that enable corporate and retail customers to use stablecoins, starting with a pilot to conduct cross-border payments between its Japan and U.S. operations using USDC on Bastion’s infrastructure.
Through Bastion, enterprises can begin moving funds immediately upon onboarding and gain firsthand experience in a real operating environment, without committing to a bespoke product build or a multi-year banking core overhaul.
For more than 60 years, BIPROGY has played a major role in shaping Japan’s banking infrastructure. Now, we’re excited to work alongside its team as it explores how stablecoins can support the next generation of financial services.

Enabling a better money experience across 82 million users for the largest phone maker

82 million Samsung users in the US are going to get USDC stablecoin transfers built into Samsung Wallet, with Bastion powering the infrastructure behind it.
@nassyweazy, Founder & CEO of Bastion, tells @RemyBlaireNews they’ll seamlessly move funds and rewards across more than 60 countries, with global connectivity the focus of this first launch before expanding spend utility over time.
Join us during @money2020 week as Beth Gibson, General Counsel at Bastion, takes the stage at @MerkleScience Meet Las Vegas on October 20 for Bank-Crypto Convergence: How Traditional Finance Is Engaging with Digital Assets.
A new chapter for stablecoins starts this October
Proud to share that Bastion has been selected as one of Samsung Wallet's stablecoin partners, providing regulated infrastructure, custody, and cross-border remittances across 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices.
It's an incredible milestone for Bastion, and the entire industry.
Starting the last week of October, eligible Galaxy users will be able to hold and send stablecoins directly in Samsung Wallet, without installing a separate crypto app or managing private keys.
We keep the ledger for each user's balance, verify and screen each user, and monitor transactions for fraud, money laundering, and sanctions exposure. Users can also send money from Samsung Wallet to bank accounts in more than 60 countries, delivered in local currency through our network of local regulated partners.
The crypto industry has spent years talking about reaching the mainstream, and this is what it looks like. Most Galaxy users will never think about custody, compliance, blockchains, or remittance rails, and that's exactly the point. We built Bastion to handle that complexity so the experience feels simple and safe.
Thank you to the Samsung Wallet team for their trust, and to the Bastion team who made this happen.

What happens when a dollar stablecoin needs to work across two regulatory regimes that were not designed to fit together?
@nassyweazy argues that USD stablecoins cannot currently satisfy both MiCA and the GENIUS Act because their issuance requirements conflict.
But demand for dollars is global.
@bastion co-founder and CEO thinks stablecoins will eventually need some form of passporting between jurisdictions.
A good clip with @aesmonty on what cross-border stablecoin regulation still has to solve 👇

love talking to @SimkinStepan because we want the exact same thing for the future of this space, even if we believe different paths will get us there first
One question started a (friendly) argument between two founders.
Should your stablecoins sit with a regulated custodian or in an onchain program?
The age-old question: custody versus self-custody.
In August, @nassyweazy of @Bastion replied to @SimkinStepan of @multisig / @altitude: "Sorry but this is a bad take." Then: "We should debate this live and go deep on the trust model."
31 minutes later, Stepan: "We really should do a live debate, I always enjoyed our custody conversations. @drewrogers let’s make it happen?"
On September 24, they debated it for 47 minutes on @stabledash Live.
Where do you land?
