This is a Mostek 1 kilobyte RAM chip - from an old Sinclair ZX81 (1981). The average RAM in a laptop is about 4Gb. So if your laptop used these, it would need 4 million of them, making it a little over 30 x 60 metres in size. #retrocomputing #zx81

The gizmo hanging out of the back, by the way, is a ZXpand+ - awesome thing. SD loading (with menu), 32K memory and a 3 channel sound chip!!!

Got myself a copy of Nigel Kneale’s classic, ‘The Stone Tape’. It wasn’t available for download so I had to buy it on an ancient storage medium! The irony is not lost on me.
