What I understand is that the chroma sensors take lower resolution pictures after one monochrome large resolution image is first acquired. It’s not chroma compression as in video files, but the general concept seems to be the same - color needs less resolution than value.
Could be chroma compression? Humans perceive bright/dark significantly more than color (we have more rods than cones), so you can sample fewer color pixels for the same perceived image quality. You can do image compression by just not acquiring color data at all pixels

If anyone is still following me, I might be getting back to post production development and teaching. Not sure yet, but it sounds like an interesting option for now.

I've been emailing with the author of #XtoCC for a while, and i can tell you guys, that we’ve found a super simple way to transfer #FCPX roles with their names to the #Premiere via .xml. It is a real thing for .aaf and .omf creating from FCPX projects #postchat

Dear @Apple - please stop pestering me about Mojave update. I’ve got your laptop with nVidia card that is not even 5 years old. Call me back when you have sorted this issue.

@Blackmagic_News is really developing #Resolve at breakneck speed. I took a look at a few of the editor friendly features of 15.2 Visual keyboard mapper and new timeline “smoothness” are my favorites. But there’s really a lot to like. provideocoalition.com/davinc…

If you are on OSX 10.13 best to stick with this build as 10.14 kills Nvidia/CUDA support in or out. eGPU is broken for new Macs and older Mac’s running internal Nvidia are bricked. Dont expect a fix from Apple. #nvidia #apple #OSX #eGPU devtalk.nvidia.com/default/t…

Happy to have Warren back at fxphd with two brand new courses. You let us know in our survey you'd like more footage, so the advanced course comes with a bonus 20GB of footage you can use to practice and build shots for your reel. fxphd.com/resolve15/?utm_sou…

Rotoscoping: • Isn’t the enemy. • Use lots of shapes, with as few points as possible • Never use bezier curves with handles • When possible, move points in groups instead of 1 at a time • Preview on a solid color similar to BG • Know when bad roto (like this) is good enough
