Since the genocide began in 2023, Ahmad has been displaced at least 20 times, sometimes every two months. His father was martyred when Ahmad was only one and a half years old, and he grew up caring for his mother while trying to continue his education; he eventually earned his degree and applied for a master’s program before the siege interrupted those plans. Ahmad had started building a home for his family, but it was destroyed in the bombing. He is now unemployed despite his experience in agriculture, animal production, hatcheries, and veterinary work. He has tried to grow crops on land near the occupation sites, where he faces daily random gunfire and struggles to irrigate because of the lack of water. He recently planted lettuce, selling half at a low price to buy food and distributing the other half to people around him. Before, a friend helped him provide food and water to others in need, but that support has stopped, leaving Ahmad struggling to help both his own family and people who had come to depend on him. His main needs now are food, water, infant formula, and diapers for Wateen, while he also hopes to raise enough money to start a small business or build a home-based incubator, something he has already built for others using his expertise. Ahmad says he never wanted wealth, only a stable and dignified life for his family, and is asking for support to meet their basic needs and eventually create a source of income that could also allow him to help others.
