Bangkok residents parked their cars on higher ground to escape the floods, only to return and discover passing vehicles had scratched them instead. Saved the engine from drowning but sacrificed the paintwork. Starting to wonder whether leaving the bloody thing underwater would've been cheaper.

Has anyone noticed posh areas like Phrom Phong, Thonglor, Sathon, Silom etc. seem to have escaped much of the flooding? Meanwhile, some of Bangkok's poorer neighbourhoods are practically underwater. Same city, very different rainy seasons.

I really feel for Freo supporters. Footy karma is real. They’re gonna be scarred for years by this. You don’t go tempting the footy gods. Even in 2019 when the mighty 🐯 were 3 gazillion points up with 5mins to go, I wasn’t counting my chickens.

Last week, ordered and installed a new induction stove in our rental. Yesterday company called to say the microwave we ordered is being delivered. Back and forth 'I didn't order a microwave'. An eventual 'oh okay, mixed up order'. Today, delivery guy rocks up...with a microwave.

I think the border closure is a nice excuse. Speaking to companies in 2023 who’d set up in Poipet they found that it was up to 20% more expensive than just being in Thailand. I’ll leave it to your imagination as to why.

India has announced that Thai nationals will be eligible for a 30-day double-entry e-Tourist visa free of charge, under an arrangement that will remain in effect until December 31, 2027, or until further notice. The Embassy of India in Bangkok announced the measure in a press release dated Friday (September 11, 2026). I hear DTV visas are being curtailed. For years Thailand has accepted all sorts. Arms dealers, s*x pests, traffickers, boiler room guys, every uncouth tourist possible to fill hotels. But with DTVs came the 'influencers', and Thailand said - nah, not even we can go this low...
