Due to the protests in France there needs to be some clarification about the current civil unrest in Albania:
- It happened after 135 days of peaceful protests
- Peaceful protestors were mocked by state officials
- It is a grass-roots movement composed of only ethnic Albanians

International human rights organisations, please pay attention to the reports of Albanian police using rubber bullets against peaceful protesters in Tirana.
According to UN guidance and Amnesty International, kinetic impact projectiles must never be fired indiscriminately into crowds or targeted at the head, face or neck. Their use must be strictly limited, necessary and proportionate. Firing at extremely close range can also cause severe or fatal injuries.
We call for an independent investigation into these allegations, accountability for any unlawful use of force, and protection of the right to peaceful assembly.
