In the 'Robin Ellacott as Rowena Ellis attending the UHC meeting with Wace' scene in the TV adaptation of #TheRunningGrave, keep your eyes peeled for & raise a glass to a sceptical middle-aged woman wearing this coat ๐ - described by the head of costume AND JKR as "fabulous".
๐ ๐ฌ
I've been waiting for the point in this journey without an itinerary where I'm still able to make a stop and say, "Cheerio, and thanks for all the Strike & Robin fun", and really mean it.
At the moment it feels like the time.
Having the Strike Universe to explore over the last six years has given me so much joy and fun.
Who could have predicted that the simple act of buying a copy of Troubled Blood on its release day to show solidarity with JK Rowling would have led to travelling the country to visit locations - with Cardboard Corm.
Being able to read three more books in the series!
To making great friends - โค๏ธ to the Strike Gang.
To appearing in the TV adaptations, meeting heroes and the most genuinely kind and generous people who love Strike and Robin almost as much as we do.
Then, meeting JKR herself?!
It was a great ride, wish I'd stayed out longer.
I would've loved to have read Strike "in active pursuit", have more "oooooh ... aha!" moments when a secret is revealed, then to have a good old chat about it all.
It's not to be though, so you all bloody well better make the most of it on my behalf. ๐

"Costly thy habit as thy purse can buy,
But not express'd in fancy; rich, not gaudy:
For the apparel oft proclaims the man"
Hamlet Act 1 Sc 3
"Robin rose early in her flat in Walthamstow, ate breakfast, dressed in a pair of Valentino trousers, an Armani shirt and a Stella McCartney jacket, slung a Gucci bag over her shoulder, then set off for central London, feeling both nervous and excited."
Robin attends her first meeting of the United Humanitarian Church in Rupert Court, London.
"On one side of the passageway were various small businesses, including a Chinese reflexologist. Most of the other side was taken up by the temple."
The TV adaptation of #TroubledBlood featured Rupert Court as the site where Kara Wolfsin's body was found, and where Robin laid flowers in remembrance.
"Are you here alone?โ said a voice beside Robin ...
โYes,โ said Robin, โmy friend was supposed to come with me but sheโs got a hangover!โ
โOh dear,โ said the girl, still smiling.
โI know, I was a bit annoyed,โ said Robin, with a laugh ...
โThere are no accidents,โ said the blonde, beaming down at Robin. โIโve learned that. No accidents ..."
Robin has chosen an "auspicious" day, Jonathan Wace is in attendance.
"A handsome, tall and fit-looking man in his mid-sixties, he could have passed in this light for a couple of decades younger, with his thick, dark shoulder-length hair threaded with silver, his large, dark blue eyes and square jaw with a dimple in his chin. His smile was thoroughly engaging."
His speech tells the story of Rusty Anderson and is designed to appeal to an audience who have mostly attended out of curiosity.
"Some of you here today are non-believers,โ said Wace, smiling again. โSome of you came out of curiosity. Some doubt, many disbelieve. Some of you might even have come to laugh at us. And why not laugh? Laughter is joyous, and joy comes from God ...
...Iโd rather face an honest sceptic than a hundred who believe they know God, but are really in thrall to their own piety, their insistence that only they, and their religion, have found the right way ...
... If you want a sign, speak the words now: โI admit the possibility."

In European folklore stone circles were often explained as young women petrified for dancing on a Sunday. Such is the case of the double cromlech of Les Demoiselles in Langon (Ille-et-Vilaine). Card by Lacroix in Chรขteaubriant c.1905.

Again: Fred was free to wear whatever he wanted to that filmed debate. Curiously, I've never yet seen any middle-aged women participating in debates on gender donning fishnets and leather miniskirts to do it, or boasting onstage about how fuckable they are, but I'm sure you'd draw a discreet veil over such behaviour if they did.
Many, many trans-identified men delight in wearing their paraphilia in public. Fred Wallace is one of them.

"A man dressed all in black stood outside their office door, holding a gigantic bunch of red roses.
'Oh, for Godโs sake,' breathed Robin ...
... 'His fatherโs put him up to this,' Robin said darkly, as Strike held open the door for her, and she pushed her way inside, being none too gentle with the quivering floral display.
'โAll women love roses,โ heโll have said. Thatโs all it takes โ a bunch of bloody flowers.'
