Less shelter under the trees now the wind has removed half of the leaves and it is much colder out in the fields. Brilliant light from the rising full moon now reaches the sett. #badgermonday
A dark night, the other badgers went directly out to the fields after some sett tidying work but tufty ear came over for a quick snack. #badgermonday
Two badgers happily eating a few peanuts before heading out into the dark fields to hunt earthworms. #badgermonday
The parallel lines of two badgers methodically foraging in the stubble. #badgermonday
Foraging through the carpet of dry leaves for peanuts. #badgermonday
Last night and one of the badgers was off and away but then stopped to sniff the air and came back to collect a slice of pear. #badgermonday
The stream is a little deeper following the thunderstorm and the badgers were out in the open fields for the first time in months catching earthworms. #badgermonday
Have a proper scratch at the sett while waiting for the twilight to fade away.

Corn on the cob snapped in two for sharing, quickly picked up and taken back into deep cover for a relaxed meal. #badgermonday
Not sure what big badger was doing here, dragging something edible back away from me but I don't know what it could have been. #badgermonday
Tufty ear badger being fussy and walking past the garden plums in the search for peanuts. In this dry weather I had expected both to be eaten without hesitation. #badgermonday
Happy to see two badgers at the same time instead of the more usual one after the other. Rarely see this clan lounging and grooming. #badgermonday
The first badger was out as I was getting settled in to watch and still adding a few peanuts, the plums were rejected although probably eaten later on. #badgermonday
The wheat has been harvested earlier than usual and is no longer on the menu. Thankfully the plums are starting to ripen, offering a sweet and juicy meal for the badgers. #badgermonday
It remains warm and dry and the badgers are checking this end of the sett for peanuts before vanishing into the fields for wild food. #badgermonday
These badgers are late risers and colour video of this clan is a rare thing. Add to that Mrs Mosquito was keen to take advantage of my fingers as I held the camera. The stream is still running but the ground is very dry so the peanuts were readily accepted. #badgermonday
Many unused entrances. Five adjacent badger setts checked over two square miles of west Devon and all unoccupied. 30 miles walked and no latrines found. Badgers are not returning to this part of England. #badgermonday
An image from last night's badger watch, coloured using AI to give a nicer impression from the original flat infra red grey. A ten second glimpse in 90 minutes of watching. The flower meadow at sunset was wonderful. #badgermonday
Trying to sit unnoticed at the edge of a small wood and being called out by a passing Roe deer. #badgermonday
A small active sett found whilst surveying last week ahead of the heatwave. #badgermonday
