Zohran Mamdani walked off after his inauguration today to ‘Gaddi Red Challenger’ by Toronto-based Punjabi artist Babbulicious – a flex-heavy Punjabi pop track about cruising in a red Dodge Challenger, blasting speakers, and repping where you’re from. The song’s hook declares “the guy lives in New York,” with the bridge name-checking different NYC neighborhoods. Zohran Mamdani is South Asian and Muslim himself. And Punjabi, Muslim, and South Asian voters, especially in Queens and Brooklyn, form a vital part of his coalition.
