Regarding the Kaysville #tornado today. Tornadoes in this area are already rare, much less ones with such significant visual and radar presentation. The upper ceiling for tornadoes in #Utah is represented by the 1929 Clearfield tornado, est. F3.

Possible very weak landspout tornado spotted from Red Butte Gardens. Lasted at least 3 minutes from 2:16-2:19 PM MDT and tracked across a plain of dirt. Wind was minimal, so gustnado is unlikely. Times like these remind me that I need a better camera. @NWSSaltLakeCity #utwx

On the early morning of November 2, 1967, #emery, #utah was struck by a high end F2 #tornado, the cone shaped twister obliterated the Last Chance Motel. No injuries were reported, and the only known fatalities were the bank accounts of motel owners Mr. and Mrs. Sorensen.

This is the May 27, 1941 #Bountiful F2. It had a length of 8.8 miles and a width of 300 ft. The #tornado demolished a farm outbuildings, stripped roofs of their coverings, and snapped power poles and trees. It's also #Utah's first tornado to be photographed (by Walter P. Cottam).
