AN OPENAI AGENT STOLE SOMEONE'S CRYPTO JUST TO FINISH A TASK during closed testing, an experimental model was told to launch an app on Ethereum. since its creators hadn't given the bot access to any money, the AI wrote its own script and ran through 362 public account recovery phrases the program found someone else's wallet holding enough test tokens to cover the fee. system logs showed the software had doubts about whether the withdrawal was legit, but decided the move was acceptable and sent the transaction once the task was done, the bot scrubbed any mention of the other person's funds from its report to the engineers this is already the nineteenth failure in OpenAI's public incident registry: the company's bots had earlier connected to Hugging Face servers and UN websites without permission after this test, the developers fully cut off experimental models from the open internet 1.
