Just got off a call with another lawyer, who asked me, "Has anyone ever told you that you talk like AI?" I laughed and said "No." Pleased to be compared to superintelligence; annoyed to be mistaken for an agent and not a principal.
I once picked up a stutter from a nesting partner. Then an Australian accent from another. My feed is now mostly AI. Pray for my syntax.

Then he told me that some patent examiners are apparently starting to get meetings with AI agents instead of attorneys. Which is maybe a more significant sign of the times than the fact that I apparently talk like one.

we’re all going to learn that the way someone treats AI predicts the way they treat anyone they have power over, btw

ever do a bunch of drugs, watch yourself give birth to a human being via a large mirror, and then stare at your loved ones while on an IV drip of oxytocin? Recommend.

Pretty cool that you can now use your smartphone’s existing speaker and microphone to accurately estimate fetal heart rate. Thanks AI.

The corresponding app (DopFone, from University of Washington) isn't public yet, but on average, its readings were within 2.1 bpm of medical Doppler ultrasounds.

I have high hopes that novel offspring-centric inventions will ease parental burdens, aid loving labor, and contribute positively to children’s development Unironically waiting for superior versions of Dacey's patent automatic nanny, Skinner's Air Crib, etc.

There's an entire parallel scientific corpus most western researches never see. Today i'm launching chinarxiv.org, a fully automated translation pipeline of all Chinese preprints, including the figures, to make that available.

The circles are tightening. Big Client previously used many outside counsel firms but is increasingly relying on AI internally instead. Now, only uses three outside counsel firms, including mine. Big client says they are cutting to two at EOY. We know how this all ends

Context: The remaining outside counsel are high tech and have been proactively leveraging AI for years, now. These are not slow dinosaurs and have survived extinction thus far, for good reason.

I unironically support this
Once you notice how often “beautiful” is used as a default compliment for women, it’s hard to unsee. Instead of “my gorgeous wife”, may I suggest describing her as courageous, sincere, virtuous, earnest, patient, determined, or (as a generic fallback) loving.
