A huge problem in Vienna is that most people either build green-social BS enterprise that is not supposed to make money or do VC shit and don’t really hang out with anybody (VCs don’t let them out of the office)
I met Alex on a meetup organised by @itsolelehmann today and he is a rare example of a Viennese entrepreneur who is:
1) building a real business
2) bootstrapping
3) is fun to be around with
Alex is busking angebot. pro - it’s a website that lets electricians create ready-to-send commercial offers with one voice message
The niches like this are cool because they have real money, the clients are not broke indie hackers, and they are super under-served (means less competition and more 🤑)

i find myself working in bursts these days.
as in: rapid back and forth on planning a new feature, then sending off the worker building for 5-15min.

What's so interesting about Bali to me is it's the extreme opposite of Europe in regulation which is just as bad
Without ANY regulation (Bali) you get
- beaches full of plastic
- sea water full of sewage water
- plastic waste burning next to your home
- lots of new homes, restaurants, cafes, businesses
With TOO MUCH regulation (Europe) you get:
- hard to build new homes
- extremely high labor cost
- no innovative/new businesses left
- both businesses and high skilled people leave elsewhere due to no opportunities
You really have to strike some balance in between to have a functioning society

With the US 🇺🇸 transitioning to a new administration, this green blob on the map is the only area left with effective climate policies in place.
This leaves the European Union 🇪🇺 with two options:
1. Maintain current regulations, continue focusing on climate change as a core policy driver, keep energy prices high, disincentivize consumption, and potentially stifle growth.
2. Deregulate, promote cheap energy production, attract investments, enable businesses to compete globally, and leverage cultural richness to attract highly skilled people from around the world.
This situation doesn’t make me happy. I would love for the world to be sustainable in terms of energy production and to limit the exploitation of natural resources.
However, it is difficult to dictate moral policy from a position of weakness, and currently, the European Union is getting weaker every single day.
