No one prepares you for the real hidden expense of parenthood, and I’m not talking about childcare.
It’s the fruit.
For Halloween, @dougboneparth and I wanted to dress up as a Boomer and their dilapidated ranch home selling in our town for $2M, but our daughter said no.
Where in your financial life do you have too many eggs in one basket?
For many households, the answer is company stock. In this week’s NL, @dougboneparth breaks down how to manage concentration risk, including what to consider when selling, tax issues to watch for, and what to do with the cash afterward.
Oh, and subscribe so you the next one comes straight to your inbox 😉

I wanted to be able to just tell him once.
He wanted an email.
Here’s what can happen when you meet your partner where they are:

I wrote a newsletter about shopping for my tweenager.
But really, it’s about creating frameworks that enable you to make intentional decisions when life gets complicated.
I won’t drop a link cause I know they don’t work here, so head on over to The Joint Account to read it.
Love is the legacy.
Happy anniversary, @dougboneparth.

He gets what it will mean for our kids and lives: from our personal finances to our household responsibilities to the labor environment a decade from now. And despite today’s news (oy), it’s not all doom and gloom.
Thanks to Dan for helping us go Above Our Pay Grade! You don’t want to miss this week’s The Joint Account:
This is nerdy, but what the hell.
In law school, I spent a year researching and writing my journal article: “Hot Pursuit: The Media’s Liability for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress in Newsgathering.”
The impetus was Conradt v. NBC, a wrongful death lawsuit arising from the time when Chris Hanson and his “To Catch A Predator” crew went TO the alleged predator himself, an Assistant District Attorney in Texas, along with the full force of local law enforcement. I’m over-summarizing. Anyway.
I just watched the trailer for the new movie, “Primetime.” And holy sh*t. It’s definitely about this case that I spent a year learning the ins and outs of and developing my own theories around. My article was cited by two federal court cases, which I am incredibly proud of still.
Just one of those professional things that totally takes you by surprise. I am very eager to see how this story, this case, this issue, is framed in the movie.
Am I the only one who can’t read any info placed into those muted color AI art infographics? Every time I see them my brain shuts down.
One of my favorite things about @dougboneparth is when he starts talking about national championships after @FloridaGators win one football game. Every year he does it. I love him for it.
Future Proof is almost here, which means it’s almost the one-year anniversary of when @dougboneparth didn’t tell me that our “Bloomberg Radio” hit was on live television and I showed up in a coverup.
