How we met
We first met
at a fair in her village:
we fell in love
We met secretly often
under the pine trees
west of the bridge
Waiting for her
Here on the bridge
she said
I shall meet you
next full moon
I turned up;
I waited in the cold
but she did not come
Her family I learned
moved away
a month after her promise
Yet, I've come here
every full moon
to wait, for I have hoped -
I still hope - she will come anyway
How many moons it has been
and how many cold nights
I have waited here on the bridge
I've lost count
I know the moon well now;
I do not know myself

As I read comments questioning why the people of Gaza persist in living in this tumultuous place

Now, I value and appreciate the stories shared by the dancing girls and other sincere individuals. I only wish to share this simplicity with more people.
Human wisdom is extraordinary. Compassion within humanity is even more.
