Just two months after returning to training 🤯

I’m sorry, but this isn’t uplifting… this story is an example of organizational (and probably medical) malpractice. Jalen Hurts is lucky to be alive.
i want to read the research based articles on why not letting him sleep was a good idea for clots when it was the worst possible thing for him btw !!!! @ eagles doctors! show me the science behind that now.

I wanna know why they didn't let him sleep. Show me the medical journals and studies indicating that sleep is dangerous for *checks notes*... blood clots??? Even if it was an issue of sedentary state, get him up every so often.

Ok this part makes zero sense and now I do question why he played after seeing this part of the report. That much sleep deprivation can have a similar effect to being drunk in terms of awareness and neuromuscular control.
There’s nothing inherently dangerous about sleeping while having a superficial clot. Immobility (venous stasis) can cause clots to get worse, but that’s why you are often advised to just sleep with the leg elevated.
I’ve NEVER heard of someone being told to avoid sleep after a superficial blood clot diagnosis and the short term effect of that sleep deprivation is a terrible thing to play football with.
Jalen Hurts reportedly went roughly 36 hours without sleep after doctors diagnosed him with a superficial blood clot in London and advised him not to sleep as a precaution.
He still started against the Jaguars, throwing for 220 yards and a TD.

The NFL is going to kill one of their players. This is the craziest shit I’ve ever heard. “Just don’t sleep because it’s dangerous. Also still play” I’m not going to shut up about this.
#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs, has been undergoing tests for days.
Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played without having slept.

I'm not exaggerating, Jeffrey Lurie needs to hire an independent investigator to review the entire decision making process that led to Jalen Hurts not only playing that game in London, but then getting onto a transatlantic flight back.
He could have died, heads need to roll.
everyone involved here needs to be fired, and lose their license. this is medical malpractice.

You shouldn’t be allowed to play a high risk contact sport after 36 hours of sleep deprivation.
That’s basically like playing drunk.
Thats the real story here with Jalen Hurts and the medical decisions.
…holy fucking shit
Jalen Hurts was told by doctors not to sleep after his initial diagnosis of a superficial blood clot while in London.
Hurts stayed awake for roughly 36 hours before starting against the Jaguars.
(per @TomPelissero)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tom Pelissero, the source cited, later clarified after speaking to Jalen Hurts' agent that Hurts was able to sleep after hospital evaluation and felt rested to play.
