The PSGSA is holding a silly sock exchange event for the holidays! Participating students will be matched and will mail a pair of silly, fun, ridiculous socks to each other.

There’s much talk about faculty attitudes toward non-academic PhD careers but little hard data. Now, in this @ps_polisci article, @loleen_berdahl, @jlisayoung and I report English-Canadian polisci faculty views of the oversupply of PhDs relative to academic positions. 1/5
There are more #PhD graduates than academic jobs, but most programs train students for academic careers. @loleen_berdahl @JonathanMalloy & @JLisaYoung asked #PoliticalScience faculty what should be done. #AcademicTwitter

There was a woman in the room with the expertise, training, skills, medical degrees & public trust to deliver complex health modelling information to Albertans.
So naturally @jkenney, a man with none of these attributes, pushed her out of the way to talk for 45 minutes.

Replying to @markusoff
Update: 45 minutes or so.
Kenney has a habit of being excessively verbose. This was utterly and completely not the best time to fall into that habit.

Every system in the U.S. is about to fail because every system is built against caregiving.
Caregiving was always supposed to exist outside of the workplace, handled by an army of unpaid women that no longer exists.
This isn’t just a disaster of capitalism, it’s patriarchy.
