Compliance has always been expensive, manual, and full of information silos. That’s why it has historically attracted significant investment in tools. But now, with AI and blockchain, investor interest has clearly accelerated.

In practice, those who successfully adopt modern compliance standards and tools spend less time reactively dealing with audits and manual reviews, and gain more predictability, fewer incidents, and a better ability to scale operations without proportionally increasing headcount.

Despite approximately $65 billion invested annually in compliance, less than 2% of the estimated $3.3 trillion in illicit funds circulating each year are detected and blocked in time to prevent criminals from using them. The room for better solutions is still enormous.

Private tx volume jumps from $35B (2025) → $58.7B (2026). +67% in one year. 32M+ annual transactions.
Measuring on-chain privacy is a paradox. These protocols exist to hide the numbers. So we built a proxy — and the projection surprised us. 🧵 EN/PT drive.google.com/file/d/1MgK…

"Screen transactions in the mempool" sounds like jargon. It's actually the difference between stopping a crime and writing its obituary. 60-second explainer 🧵 When someone sends a blockchain transaction, it doesn't confirm instantly. It sits in a public waiting room first: the mempool. For a few seconds, it's visible but NOT yet permanent. Legacy compliance tools ignore this window entirely. They read event logs, which only exist AFTER the block is mined. By design, they can only tell you what already happened. Those seconds in the mempool are the only moment when an illicit transfer can still be stopped. Screen the counterparty against sanctions lists and KYC registries inside that window, signal the issuer, and the transfer gets blocked before it confirms. Before finality: prevention. After finality: forensics. Same blockchain, same data, completely different outcome. Every compliance regime written in the last 18 months (GENIUS Act, MiCA, Brazil's Digital Asset Law) implicitly demands the first one.

Not All Blockchain Privacy Protocols Carry the Same Compliance Risk When many compliance teams hear "privacy protocol," they often place everything in the same bucket. In reality, blockchain privacy technologies span a wide spectrum

The industry is increasingly moving toward verifiable privacy—systems where users can maintain confidentiality while still proving compliance through cryptographic evidence.

For AML and KYT providers, treating every privacy protocol as a "mixer" is becoming an increasingly inaccurate model of blockchain risk. #AML #KYT #Compliance #BlockchainAnalytics #CryptoCompliance #PrivacyPools #Railgun #Aztec #TornadoCash #ZKP #Web3
