Ghana, we love a good “I heard…” 😭😂 Now, see when it comes to public money, the gist is only the beginning of the story...✍️ You need to know that a budget can make promises, but only delivery can keep them; and an allocation is not the same as disbursement. 👀 An allocation is only a plan, not actual release of funds or expenditure❗️ So before you carry the matter from the Trotro to the family WhatsApp group, ask a few more questions; Has the money moved beyond paper? Did the project move beyond promise? That should tell you what you need to know.🙄 Being an active citizen means knowing when to join the conversation, when to challenge the narrative, and when to follow the money. Not all gist is gospel, Charley. #KokonsaOClock #AskQuestions #GetInformed #FollowTheCedi #ActiveCitizenship

Facts should not get lost in translation.🗣️ At @penplusbytes’ research launch and multilingual marketplace, conversations centered on an important question: how do we make credible information accessible and useful to more people in Ghana? Language is indispensable and the ability to understand, verify, and question information should not be confined to a particular language or linguistic strain or dialect. As information spreads across communities and digital spaces, multilingual approaches to fact-checking can help bring credible evidence closer to the people who need it. We were glad to be part of this conversation on moving from evidence to innovation on information integrity as our work in simplifying the national budget across all rungs of the literacy span and social framework sits at this very intersection and we believe that targeted investment and engagement is needed to strengthen this work across the country. #GetInvolved #Penplusbytes #InformationIntegrity #FactCheckFirst

Meet Togbe Tsali! Remembered in Anlo-Ewe oral tradition as a priest and magician, his legend lives on through stories of extraordinary powers. In AKOFENA, he brings rhythm and mystical combat to the arena. Legend says he once rode a crocodile across the keta lagoon. Rwanda is building a track completely from scratch, and Formula 1 is so sure they will deliver that they have already put pen to paper on a 10-year contract. Meanwhile, South Africa, with an existing track that has fallen out of shape, isn't trusted to get anything done because the South African risk premium is simply too big. Global capital now views South Africa as a dangerous, untrusted hazard while treating Rwanda as the absolute gold standard for institutional trust. Formula One Group does not sign a decade-long agreement on raw hope. They signed with Rwanda because Kigali has built an unshakeable reputation for flawless executive execution. When the Rwanda Development Board guarantees a timeline, the regulatory red tape is liquidated overnight by a disciplined, single-window executive. Global capital knows that a promise made in Kigali is a mathematical certainty. Rwanda turned a blank plot of dirt in Bugesera into a low-risk, elite-aligned asset. Conversely, modern South Africa has become a dangerous, volatile bet that international investors simply refuse to underwrite. Having the physical layout of Kyalami means absolutely nothing when your entire state apparatus is viewed as a structural liability. You cannot invite a multi-billion dollar global enterprise to a country crippled by terminal municipal decay, and deep institutional rot. F1 teams cannot run their multi-million dollar telemetry systems on the gamble that local public utilities won't collapse mid-race. South Africa's existing track falling out of shape is just a symptom of a much larger, systemic pathology. The state is so deeply fractured by bureaucratic infighting, political posturing, and chaotic policy vectors that it cannot provide a credible, bulletproof sovereign financial guarantee to underwrite hosting fees. The institutional decay is so severe that South Africa can no longer be trusted to manage, maintain, or secure projects of this level of complexity. In the brutal arena of global statecraft, historical prestige is completely worthless if you are priced out of the market as an operational danger. Rwanda won this contract because it aggressively engineered international trust, while South Africa mismanaged its massive head start into total structural irrelevance. F1 didn't bypass South Africa because of politics, it bypassed South Africa because of math.

In Ghana, in the Accra suburb of Sasaabi, authorities arrested 19 individuals and seized 303 electronic devices. In addition, authorities identified 117 victims of human trafficking that are now pending repatriation to Nigeria. An additional 89 victims of the scam were identified with an approximate loss of $8.3 million. During the last week of September alone, authorities made scores of arrests at six locations, identified 34 trafficking victims, and seized 129 electronic devices. The Ghana operation was led by the @CSAGhana, @GhPoliceService Criminal Investigation Department, National Security Service, with support from the NCA, FBI, and Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Transnational criminal scam networks operating from West Africa suffered major disruptions last week during a coordinated international “Joint Disruption Week,” an effort that produced arrests, seizures, and the LARGEST-EVER TAKEDOWN of fraudulent social media accounts linked to scam centers in the region. Results: ✅ Dozens of Arrests ✅ More Than 3.7 Million Accounts Removed ✅ More Than 100 Trafficking Victims Rescued “The Criminal Division’s Cyber-Enabled Scam Initiative (CSI) was built for this brand of collaboration. The millions of bogus social media accounts taken down and dozens of arrests that took place as part of Joint Disruption Week are just the beginning." -@AAGDuva Read more: justice.gov/opa/pr/departmen…
