Please remember that the overwhelming majority of people that you hear talk online about the current state of programming are not building anything that:
- is dealing with significant amounts of money
- has non-trivial financial risks from production defects
- is being collaborated on by even a single other person
- has been and is being iterated on over a long time scale
also remember that the overwhelming majority of takes online are:
- not coming from a place of actually wanting to provide you with useful information
- are at least in some capacity posturing. This industry is changing at a rapid pace and seeming ahead is of legitimate financial importance to individuals

I think arguments against reading the code generally miss the fact that code is as much a form of communication as it is a means to get what you want done
You don’t need to know everything anymore, but you probably still need to know enough to communicate
There are two distinct polar opposite camps right now
1. Engineers with enough experience to know maintainable code is a thing and how important it is to a real business
2. Those who don’t realize its a thing beyond “the harness/checks pass”
They could not be living in more different worlds right now
I don't know how the SaaS landscape will change, but it's definitely under some threat. We've vibe-coded a ton of tools we would have bought and it works perfectly one developer maintains the platform they run on part-time: hot desk assignment, conference room reservation, front desk checkin…
I don’t think most language creators realize they are creating a b2b startup, but they are. If you target random use cases and hobbyists, no one is going to sponsor meaningfully
If you target a business use cases for a new language and make it the best option by far for building solutions to real problems, business will be built on it and it’ll be in their best interest to pay employees to contribute, to sponsor you, etc

the more i learn about history, the more I appreciate America. America is actually an extremely cool and special anomaly in the timeline of civilizations. It's so successful that it's allowed the people inside it to lose touch with how bad things can truly be
If you are an in office only company outside of SF/NY, you can certainly hire top 5% within your geographic area. But what are the odds you can hire enough people you need who are top 5% globally, who happen to live near your office or are willing to move to your small tech hub?
So you have to choose between the advantages of in office work and the advantages of a top 5% globally team.
This makes me extremely happy, not only for mothers, but especially for fathers who are learning that lasting fulfillment comes from serving their families
