Most interesting part of this is their work on GenSim to systematically recreate their platform for RL. Every company will need to do the same in order to train their agents! Great job @datadoghq
Meet Scout 1.0, our first AI model built for investigating production incidents.
Scout matches frontier-model investigation quality at a fraction of the cost, which makes it practical to investigate more issues, earlier.
We trained Scout on realistic simulations built from real-world incidents and production telemetry, using reinforcement learning to reward accurate root causes backed by evidence.

Datadog post-trained GLM-5.3 Flash via RL on real-incident sims. Matches frontier SRE performance at much lower cost.
Their RL stack is built on top of SkyRL! Check out the technical report web-assets.dd-static.net/425…

NEW: We launched Scout! It's a new AI model which beats frontier models on investigating production issues.
It's been powering Bits Investigations and is wayyy cheaper than other models at the task.

Congrats @bthecohen and @datadoghq on releasing #Scout 1.0! I've been waiting for a post-trained SRE model for a while and #Scout makes my day.
Thanks for trying #SREGym !
and thanks for writing a very informative tech report!

Replying to @bthecohen @datadoghq
To check that Scout does not just fit our harness, we also ran the public SREGym benchmark: 90 faults, with the supplied Stratus harness.
Scout 1.0 xhigh resolves 80 of 90 faults, competitive with the best frontier models at least 2× cheaper. Scout 1.0 medium beats GLM-5.3 at more than 4× lower cost.

Very impressive results from @datadoghq on #SREGym. Extremely excited to see how domain-specific models can push the frontier for SRE!

So excited about this one
We (@datadoghq) post-trained our own model for incident investigation
Scout matches Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1 on our AlertEval benchmark at a fraction of the cost.
already running with a few customers and we'll progressively serve more and more customers who can sign up to the private beta.
this will let us give our customers always on agents detecting problems, finding the root cause and solving them completely autonomously
Congrats to our research team, it's been awesome seeing them execute!

We have post-trained GLM 5.3 flash to become as strong as Fable 5.1 on SRE tasks (that is bug finding in complicated software deployments). Checkout our tech paper to see how we did it. web-assets.dd-static.net/425…

Exciting news from Datadog AI Research: we trained a model to investigate production incidents, and it matches the best frontier models at a fraction of the cost.
Introducing Scout 1.0, the model powering Bits Investigation, our AI SRE.
On AlertEval, our benchmark of real production alerts:
- Scout 1.0 medium matches Claude Opus 5.5 high and GPT-6.1 Sol high at 3-8x lower cost
- It also performs comparably to Claude Fable 5.1 medium and GPT-6 Astra medium at 12x and 19x lower cost
- Scout 1.0 xhigh matches Claude Fable 5.1 xhigh at 4x lower cost
Excited to introduce Scout 1.0, the model powering Bits Investigation, Datadog’s AI SRE agent for complex troubleshooting and late-night alerts.
We post-trained GLM-5.3 Flash to match frontier models at much lower cost on our internal AlertEval benchmark. 🧵
5/ We built interactive training environments to reproduce the Bits Investigation interface, trained on our internal async RL stack, developed a hybrid reward to balance correctness and evidence grounding, and employed “harness fuzzing” to vary tools and budgets during training.
6/ Lower inference cost lets us investigate more alerts and spend more compute on hard cases. Scout is already in use internally and in a closed customer preview.
Huge thanks to everyone at Datadog who built this!

i am extremely excited to announce our latest flow map finetuning algorithm: Wasserstein Tilted Flows (WTF?!)
something i’ve been thinking about for a while now is the “right” way to formulate finetuning and reward alignment of flow-based generative models. two difficulties that arise repeatedly are 1) sampling the canonical “reward-tilted distribution” is really hard, and 2) basically all existing methods require backpropagation or adjoint methods through flow rollouts, which is prohibitively expensive
the core issue i’ve had with the reward tilt is that it arises from a geometry on the space of probability measures based on the KL divergence. this makes sense for stochastic processes such as diffusions, but for the deterministic flows we use in practice, this choice of geometry can be very awkward, leading state of the art methods to repeatedly convert back and forth between a flow and a diffusion
here we throw out this formulation entirely, redefining the reward alignment problem in terms of a carefully-chosen wasserstein distance. we show that that this leads to a deterministic optimal control problem, which we can solve rapidly via reinforcement learning in a simulation-free by way leveraging the underlying flow map. critically, using the flow map avoids backpropagation through rollouts, replacing them by a single function evaluation.
by adapting both the flow map and its underlying flow together online, we obtain an end-to-end finetuning algorithm that takes a flow map in, gives a flow map out, and is ~50-100x faster than current state of the art approaches
super proud of my students for their hard work on this one — check it out!

RL for diffusion and flow models often requires expensive rollouts.
We show that flow maps enable simulation-free RL finetuning.
Introducing Wasserstein-Tilted Flow Maps (WTF)! 🤩
The key is a transport-based alternative to KL regularization. 🧵

congrats @ml_angelopoulos and the Arena team!!
Today, we're announcing our Series B: $200M at a $3.1B valuation, and the release of Arena's Alignment Index.
AI is advancing faster than our ability to evaluate it. The world needs a neutral third party to measure how safe and aligned AI actually is once it's in the hands of real people. That's the role Arena is stepping into today.
The Alignment Index is built from real-world agent traces, starting with three signals: Unauthorized Action, False Attribution, and Deceptive Completion, with results for over 20 frontier models launching today.
Hear more from our CEO @ml_angelopoulos below, and read the full breakdown, and more details about our company growth in thread.
This funding will allow us to go further on safety signals, agentic capabilities, and modalities. It will also allow us to grow the company to match the scale of our mission. Today, we’re still a nimble team of 90, and we're looking for people to join us across research, product, engineering, and more. Come build with us.
As AI gets more capable and autonomous, understanding how well it can safely and effectively work for people only matters more. That's what Arena is built to measure and advance.
Thank you to our community, our investors, and everyone building with us!
Take a look at our open roles if you want to join us (link in bio).
