Maysilee Donner Reaping Dress costume notes: "In District 12, clothing reflects the divisions between the impoverished Seam and the comparatively prosperous merchant families of the town. The Donners belong to the latter, and Maysilee's appearance sets her apart from many of her peers. Initially perceived by Haymitch Abernathy as judgmental, Maysilee reveals a more defiant nature as the story unfolds. Beneath her polished exterior lies a fierce resentment of the Capitol's treatment of the districts. Her appearance introduces a character whose carefully maintained exterior contrasts with her growing unwillingness to submit to the world around her. At her Reaping, Maysilee Donner arrives in lavender: a choice both elegant and unmistakably defiant. The dress asserts a sense of beauty and discernment beyond the Capitol's restrictive image of District 12. It becomes a reminder that dignity is not those in power, but carried by the individual who granted by wears it."
