🚨 BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU KEEP SAYING ABOUT YOURSELF. “I’m an alcoholic.” “I’m broken.” “I’m a failure.” “I’m just that kind of person.” Repeat a label long enough… and eventually you may start building your identity around it. Adam Johnson shares a powerful realization from his own life: He had to separate WHO HE WAS from the destructive behaviors he had been repeating. That meant confronting alcohol. Temptation. Old habits. And the identity he had attached to those things. 🔥 Because there’s a massive difference between saying: “I’ve struggled with this.” and deciding: “THIS IS WHO I AM.” Your past behavior can be real. Your mistakes can be real. Your struggles can be real. But they do not have to become the permanent definition of your identity. At some point, Adam had to ask: WHO AM I NOW? And does the person I say I want to become actually REFLECT the choices I’m making? That’s where transformation begins. Not by pretending the past didn’t happen. But by refusing to let the past dictate who you become next. 🔥 Your habits matter. 🔥 Your language matters. 🔥 Your identity matters. Stop reinforcing the person you’re trying to leave behind. Start acting in alignment with the person you’re trying to become. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Adam Johnson on The Asset Mindset Podcast — I HATED WHO I WAS: The Identity Shift That Changed Everything. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #AdamJohnson #Identity #SelfTalk #Discipline #PersonalGrowth #Transformation

🚨 FROM THE OUTSIDE, HE LOOKED DISCIPLINED. Behind the scenes, he was living a completely different life. At 22 years old, Adam Johnson was living in downtown Chicago, making good money, training clients, and showing up to the gym early. But at night? Partying. Alcohol. Drugs. Substance abuse. Temptation everywhere. And Adam thought he had it under control. He could stay out all night… hit the gym at 5:00 AM… shower… train his first client at 6:30… and nobody would know the difference. He wore that ability like a badge of honor: 🔥 “I’m good. I can live a double life.” On one side, he could be the standard for his clients. On the other, he could drink, party, and use drugs. And because he could still perform… he convinced himself there wasn’t a problem. That’s what makes a double life so dangerous. Sometimes the consequences don’t show up immediately. Sometimes you can still look successful. Still show up. Still perform. Still convince everyone around you—and yourself—that everything is fine. Until eventually, the person you pretend to be and the life you’re actually living collide. Adam admits that lifestyle followed him even into the military. The question is: ARE YOU ACTUALLY LIVING YOUR VALUES… OR HAVE YOU JUST BECOME GOOD AT HIDING THE PARTS THAT DON’T ALIGN? 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Adam Johnson on The Asset Mindset Podcast — I HATED WHO I WAS: The Identity Shift That Changed Everything. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #AdamJohnson #DoubleLife #Identity #Discipline #AddictionRecovery #PersonalGrowth

🚨 WHAT IF YOU DON’T NEED MORE MOTIVATION? What if you need your ACTIONS to finally match the person you say you want to become? Adam Johnson delivers a powerful shift in how we think about discipline: 🔥 DISCIPLINE IS ALIGNMENT. Human beings naturally move toward comfort. What feels good. What feels easy. What gives us immediate relief. And we naturally want to move away from what feels difficult. But the life you SAY you want may require something completely different. It may require sacrifice. Giving up comfort. Changing habits. Walking away from things that feel good today but are destroying what you want tomorrow. For Adam, that realization became deeply personal. Alcohol. Loneliness. A marriage that fell apart. And the painful realization that he had been lying to himself. That’s when discipline stops being about checking boxes. It becomes a question of identity: WHO DO I SAY I AM? WHO DO I WANT TO BECOME? AND DO MY DAILY CHOICES ACTUALLY ALIGN WITH THAT PERSON? Because you can’t keep choosing the old comforts and expect to build a completely different life. Something has to change. Something may have to be sacrificed. 🔥 Discipline isn’t about making your life miserable. It’s about removing the behaviors that are keeping you from the life you actually want. Stop asking: “Do I feel like doing this?” Start asking: “DOES THIS ALIGN WITH WHO I’M BECOMING?” That question can change everything. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Adam Johnson on The Asset Mindset Podcast — I HATED WHO I WAS: The Identity Shift That Changed Everything. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #AdamJohnson #Discipline #Identity #Mindset #PersonalGrowth #SelfDiscipline

Discipline isn’t about making life miserable — it’s about changing habits: add what helps and remove what keeps you from the life you want. #habits
🚨 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR… AND DON’T RECOGNIZE THE PERSON LOOKING BACK? Adam Johnson reached that point. For years, his identity was tied to who he had been. The athlete. The image. The role. The version of himself he thought he was supposed to be. Then that identity started falling apart. And Adam was forced to confront an uncomfortable truth: “I looked at myself and I hated myself.” Not because he had simply gained weight. Not because life had become difficult. But because he had reached a point where he no longer knew WHO HE WAS. That became the wake-up call. 🔥 WHO AM I? 🔥 What am I building my identity around? 🔥 And if those labels disappear tomorrow… what’s left? Most people spend years creating identities around careers, accomplishments, titles, relationships, status, appearance, or what other people expect from them. But eventually, life can strip those labels away. And when it does… You’re left with YOU. That’s when the real work begins. Adam’s story is a reminder that sometimes transformation doesn’t start with becoming someone new. It starts with finally being willing to look in the mirror and confront the person you’ve become. Then deciding: I CAN CHANGE THIS. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Adam Johnson on The Asset Mindset Podcast — I HATED WHO I WAS: The Identity Shift That Changed Everything. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #AdamJohnson #Identity #Mindset #PersonalGrowth #Transformation #SelfDiscipline

True transformation doesn't begin by becoming someone else. It begins when you finally dare to face yourself—acknowledge who you've become—and decide: I CAN CHANGE THIS. #Transformation #Change

🚨 “NEVER QUIT” IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD ADVICE. Sometimes the strongest decision is knowing when to STOP. Ruben Ayala shares a hard leadership lesson from the COVID shutdowns: There came a point where a “no-quit mentality” was NOT the right move. The business was struggling. The situation had changed. And continuing to push forward the same way would have created even more damage. That meant making one of the hardest decisions a leader can make: Letting people go. Hurting people financially. Disappointing people. Facing the reality that not everyone was going to react well. 🔥 But leadership is not about protecting yourself from uncomfortable decisions. It’s about making the decision the situation actually requires. Sometimes perseverance is the answer. Sometimes adaptation is the answer. And sometimes… QUITTING THE WRONG STRATEGY is what saves the mission. That’s the difference between being stubborn and being accountable. “Never quit” sounds powerful. But if you refuse to change course when the facts change… you can hurt your people, your business, and yourself. The better question is: AM I BEING RESILIENT… OR AM I REFUSING TO ADAPT? 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast — FOLLOW ME. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #Leadership #Resilience #DecisionMaking #Adaptability #LeadershipLessons

“Never quit” applies to most things, but not every time. If you refuse to shift course when the facts change, you can end up harming your team, your company, and yourself. #Leadership #Business

🚨 HUSTLE DOESN’T HAVE TO MEAN BURNOUT. Maybe we’ve been defining it wrong. Ruben Ayala breaks down what “hustle” actually means to him: It’s not mindlessly grinding 24/7. It’s intentionally working to BETTER YOUR POSITION. If you’re an athlete… You hustle to create an advantage. If you’re a business owner… You hustle to grow your network and increase revenue. If you’re a busboy… You hustle to turn tables faster, prove your value, earn the opportunity to become a server, and make more money. Different goals. Same mindset. 🔥 KEEP MOVING FORWARD. Hustle is recognizing where you are… seeing where you want to go… and putting in the work required to close the gap. That could mean: Building another skill. Creating another relationship. Taking more initiative. Doing your current job exceptionally well. Becoming too valuable to ignore. The point isn’t to destroy yourself working. The point is to refuse to become comfortable staying exactly where you are. So ask yourself: WHAT DOES HUSTLE LOOK LIKE AT YOUR CURRENT LEVEL? Not someone else’s level. YOURS. Then get to work. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast — FOLLOW ME. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #Hustle #Mindset #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #SuccessMindset

🚨 THE “SELF-MADE” STORY LEAVES SOMETHING OUT. Ruben Ayala noticed a powerful pattern while interviewing people for his book: Nobody did it completely alone. Everywhere he looked, there was someone Ruben describes as a… “Yoda-like figure.” A mentor. A coach. A leader. Someone who saw the potential before it was fully developed. But here’s the other half of the lesson: The mentor can’t do the work FOR you. At some point, YOU still have to pick yourself up. YOU have to be willing to grow. YOU have to challenge your thoughts and beliefs. YOU have to take ownership. 🔥 But when someone already has that spark inside them… and the right mentor comes along and FANS THAT FLAME… That spark can become a BLAZING FIRE. That’s what great mentorship can do. It doesn’t create your potential. It helps you recognize it, develop it, and become more than you may have believed possible on your own. So ask yourself two questions: Who is helping fan YOUR flame? And whose flame are YOU helping ignite? Nobody makes it alone. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast — FOLLOW ME. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #Mentorship #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #SuccessMindset #FollowMe

🐸 THEY CALLED HIM “THE BLACK FROG.” But behind that nickname is a story that deserves to be remembered. In this powerful clip from The Asset Mindset Podcast, Ruben Ayala shares the story of Charlie Simmons—a man Ruben describes as the first Black diver in Army Special Operations history. Think about the barriers that had to be broken to get there. Charlie didn’t just enter that world. He EXCELLED in it. Ruben describes him as a master swimmer even into his mid-80s and says that, to his knowledge, Charlie was also the first Black 180A warrant officer in Special Forces history. Vietnam veteran. Special Forces leader. Combat diver. Sergeant Major. Pioneer. And it started far away from the world he would eventually help change. Brooklyn, New York City. 🔥 That’s why stories like Charlie Simmons’ matter. Because sometimes becoming the first means stepping into a place where almost nobody who looks like you has gone before. You don’t just accomplish something for yourself. You expand what the people coming behind you believe is possible. Ruben calls Charlie Simmons “The Black Frog.” After hearing his story, you understand why the name carries so much weight. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast — FOLLOW ME. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #CharlieSimmons #SpecialForces #MilitaryHistory #BlackHistory #Leadership

🚨 WHEN THE CONSEQUENCES ARE REAL, PEOPLE DON’T JUST NEED AUTHORITY. THEY NEED A LEADER THEY TRUST. Ruben Ayala @ruben_d_ayala @blkops_foundation shares a frightening moment from a high-altitude mission when getting a teammate the medical care he needed became the priority. They had to get him off the mountain. They had to get him to the hospital. And one of the options on the table was a helicopter evacuation. But there was a problem… To reach the helicopter, they may have needed to ASCEND even higher before reaching a clearing where he could be medevaced. Ruben remembers it plainly: “It was really scary, man.” This is where leadership stops being theory. When the stakes rise… When the options aren’t perfect… When people are looking to you for direction… 🔥 Confidence matters. 🔥 Judgment matters. 🔥 Trust matters. 🔥 DECISIONS matter. A title or rank can give you authority. But authority alone doesn’t make people believe in you when the situation becomes uncertain. That trust is built BEFORE the crisis ever happens. And when lives are on the line, your team needs to know: YOU CAN MAKE THE CALL. That’s leadership under pressure. 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast — FOLLOW ME. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #Leadership #LeadershipUnderPressure #DecisionMaking #Trust #MentalToughness

🚨 FEARLESS DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN COURAGEOUS. In fact, sometimes it can be dangerous. Ruben Ayala ( @ruben_d_ayala @blkops_foundation ) delivers a brutally direct take on battlefield leadership: “Most people who I’ve seen that are fearless on the battlefield… they’re psychopaths.” His point isn’t that leaders should be controlled by fear. It’s that fear can serve a purpose. Because the leader who tells you: “This scares the sh*t out of me—but I have a plan, and this is what we’re going to do.” may be exactly the person you want to follow. Why? Because they understand the risk. They respect the consequences. And they’re still willing to move forward. 🔥 That’s the difference between COURAGE and RECKLESSNESS. Courage isn’t the absence of fear. It’s recognizing the danger… thinking clearly… developing a plan… and taking action anyway. A leader who feels nothing may charge forward without respecting what’s at stake. A strong leader can feel fear—and still make the decision the mission requires. So ask yourself: Do you really want a fearless leader… or a courageous one? 🎙️ Watch the full conversation with Ruben Ayala on The Asset Mindset Podcast. 🔥 OWN YOUR POWER. #TheAssetMindset #RubenAyala #Leadership #Courage #MentalToughness #DecisionMaking #LeadershipDevelopment
