President Isaias Afwerki and his delegation returned home in the early morning hours today winding down a working visit to Russia. During the visit, President Isaias and his delegation participated at the 3rd Russia-Africa Summit. The President held a meeting with President Vladimir Putin for extensive talks on bilateral ties as well as other issues of mutual importance. In the meeting, Eritrea and Russia agreed to bolster their cooperation in the energy, technology, mining and agricultural sectors. President Isaias and his delegation also met with the Minister of Transport, Mr. Dmitry Yardov, and discussed enhancement of broad bilateral cooperation on infrastructural projects in land, sea and air transport.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh gave, today, a briefing on Ethiopia's unprovoked acts of aggression and its geopolitical ambitions to the Diplomatic Community in Asmara. In his extensive briefing, FM Osman elaborated, with substantive details and evidences: - the Ethiopian regime's repetitive and provocative pronouncements - by senior Prosperity Party political and military officials - for three long years on their belligerent strategy for acquiring "sovereign access to the sea"; - these ambitions and accompanied saber-rattling constituted a declaration of war against Eritrea in flagrant breach of the UN Charter and relevant provisions that prohibit the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity and political independence of any UN Member State; - the Prosperity Party regime continued to provide sanctuary, as well as military and logistical support, to an assortment of inconsequential opposition groups; - the regime was further engaged in proxy military activities that fuel regional conflicts and exacerbate instability in the Horn of Africa.
