I’m ready for pumpkin week!
We will measure/ predict sink or float/ scoop/ count the seeds using tens-frames/ put some pulp & seeds in ziploc bags for a clean sensory experience…
Listened to this classic w my son on our way to/ from apple picking- and when the narrator said they stopped by Olivetti’s to use the typewriter- I exclaimed, OLIVETTI!!!
Is THAT how Allie Millington came up w the name???
Apple picking in the rain is not for the faint of heart, but that’s what we did! We were able to drive up to each tree (“wheelchair friendly”- paved). My son opted to stay in the van & receive the bunch of apples I was able to pick (I got completely soaked!).

Oct 7 was clarifying for me. As @DouglasKMurray said it was like a flare went up and you could see where everyone was standing.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists tortured, mutilated, and murdered 1,200 innocent civilians in Israel.
Among those slain were men, women, and children — including dozens of Americans.
We will never forget this act of barbarism against an ally and recommit ourselves to the defense of civilization.

October 7, 2023. 6:29 AM.
Exactly three years ago, everything changed.
1,029 civilians murdered.
1,318 IDF and security personnel killed.
251 Israelis kidnapped into Gaza.
Around 30,000 wounded.
355 widows.
880 orphans.
Thousands of families forever changed.
Today marks the first October 7 anniversary with no hostages remaining in Gaza.
The wounds remain. The loss remains. The pain remains.
We remember the murdered.
We honor the fallen.
We stand with the wounded and the bereaved.
October 7, 2023.
Remember. Never forget. Never forgive.
Crocheters- check this out! Coolest microgravity indicator!
Our microgravity indicator consists of four satellites orbiting a crocheted Earth, all hand-made elements by Jack’s daughter and my childhood best friend. Each crew member selected a personal symbol or “satellite.” A tether links each satellite to the Earth, representing our connection to our families, friends, and our one shared home. We’ll see this indicator drop as we re-enter Earth’s gravity tomorrow.
I chose a panda holding a mushroom, two adorable symbols of environmental importance and cultural fascination. Pandas are modern icons of species preservation and international diplomacy, and a pivotal character in my childhood. Mushrooms, or fungi, are the great decomposers, with all life on earth depending on them to keep our soils healthy and food webs functioning.
Jack chose a moon that his daughter hand-crocheted. Each color woven into the design represents a member of their family or a cherished shared activity. By bringing this piece with him, he keeps their bond close, allowing Jack to re-live happy memories while looking forward to the ones they’ll create when he returns.
Sophie chose a banana. Bananas are the world’s most common fruit, ordinary fruit shared by billions of people across every continent. Yet on orbit fresh fruit is rare. She wanted with us a playful reminder of kitchens and home—a familiar piece of Earth drifting weightless with us.
Andrey chose this thing, because it reminds me of an old space soviet movie. He would invite everyone to try to guess what this is.
And we present to you, Planet Gaia and her moons, floating here in Crew-12’s Dragon!
LOVED!
Such a powerfully-told story (alt present day/ past) about Mabel, declared a mad killer; and Elsie, finally telling her story that slowly revealed the truth.
Power of love, hatred, coming together.

Tonight as you light your candles for Shabbat and Simchat Torah, please light a candle for all the neshamot (souls) of our beloved brethren so cruelly taken from us on the 7th October and those that died fighting evil on that day (and beyond)
Tonight is the beginning of their 3rd yarzeit. May their memory be an eternal blessing🖤
What a beautiful, lyrical book that inspired us to be on the lookout for fall treasures!
We drew what we hope to find outside in the fall!
I wanted to see the Tiffany Lamp exhibit @QueensMuseum. My son graciously read @JamesPonti’s Sherlock Society: Art Attack while I admired…
(Although I was disappointed not to see Clara Driscoll’s name mentioned anywhere, as the true designer of these lamps!)
