Reminder that Notre Dame quit their bowl game because they thought they were too good to play BYU.

Conference-swapping in college sports is destroying storied regional rivalries, but I have a fantastic idea for a revival: The COWBOYS VS. INDIANS Bowl.
Texas Tech vs. Texas
Neutral site in Dallas or Fort Worth.
Two top programs. Two bitter rivals.
One is known for its West Texas grit and cowboy heritage, taming the plains of the Llano Estacado and fighting off the savage Comanche.
The other loves importing foreigners and is also gay.
C’mon folks. Let’s make this happen. I know Texas Tech sent Texas football packing with a big loss right before it fled the Big 12, not to mention the spanking its basketball got after Chris Beard turned traitor but before he got really chokey and slappy with the gals, so Texas is naturally scared, but America needs this right now.
It’s time. COWBOYS VS. INDIANS Bowl. Let’s do this.

After the U.S. leveled Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it still sent Japan about $2.2 billion in 1946–1952 aid, food, fuel, fertilizer, and medicine.
In today’s money that is roughly $15 billion.
Japan repaid $490 million and built an advanced country.
Toyota. Sony. Honda. Bullet trains. Chips. Robots. A top-tier economy and scientific power from a pile of ash, in one generation.
Now let’s look at “Palestine”,
Since 1950 the United States has put about $7.4 billion into UNRWA alone. Europe has added on the order of $15–20+ billion in UNRWA funds, humanitarian aid, and Palestinian Authority support.
More money. Far more years.
What was the return?
Not an economy. Aid dependence, wrecked infrastructure, and a terrorist political system in which war with Israel is its main project and its livelihood.
All of the money fed terrorism, tunnels, patronage, and “martyr” payments.
Japan used the assistance to become a country. Gaza and the West Bank used it to stay a cause and harbor terrorism that affected and burned the entire region.
And that is exactly where this $1 million will go: into the samI terrorist system that has already proven it would rather fund the fight than build anything with a positive outcome.
Macklemore is donating his entire $1 million salary from Ed Sheeran's tour to organizations supporting Palestine and is inviting Robert Kraft, who blocked him from performing at Gillette Stadium, to match the donation.
“Whatever we disagree about, perhaps we can agree on this: Palestinian lives are worth protecting. A Palestinian life is no less valuable than any other life on this earth.
That is what this has always been about. Not me. Not a tour. Not the headlines or the controversy. It is about Palestinians right to freedom, dignity and safety in their own homeland. I want to center the parents carrying their children into hospitals without the basic resources to treat them, and the physicians, paramedics, journalists and aid workers who keep going back in. I want to center the organizers and activists who have paid real costs for standing with Palestine. Their risk is of a far different order than mine.
Palestinians have lived for decades without basic rights and should not have to wait another day to be free. That is where my focus will remain. I will continue to stand with the Palestinian people and their fight for liberation. When the news cycle moves on, which it will, don't move with it.

I hate gambling and oppose it in all its forms and would love for all of it to be illegal, but corrupt conferences hiring refs to rig games using secret clocks and then paying off their victims to keep quiet is a much bigger threat to the integrity of athletics than a player betting on outcomes he had no control over. That’s exactly what happened last night in Ann Arbor, and everyone knows it.
The Big 10 tried to destroy Texas Tech for the crime of supporting a player who never played a single snap for the school and whose transgressions all started when he played in the Big 10.
Brendan Sorsby is banned from the NCAA, but every single Big 10 referee involved in rigging that game for Michigan will be officiating games next week.
Brendan Sorsby can’t play college football, but the Big 10 employees who used a secret clock to rig a game and then lie about it will all continue to get paid to do the same thing the next time a non-conference opponent threatens a Big 10 playoff bid.
The Big 10 threatened to ban its members from playing Texas Tech because of one player who gambled while he played in the Big 10. Is anyone going to refuse to play Michigan, or play the Big 10, as a result of Big 10 referees blatantly rigging games for Big 10 schools? No? Isn’t that interesting.
Unless and until every school and conference that had a meltdown over Texas Tech officially boycotts Michigan and the Big 10, we’ll know that the entire Texas Tech uproar was fake. It was never about the integrity of the game. It was never about the sanctity of the sport.
What they were actually mad about was a new world in which their ability to illegally pay players under the table no longer mattered, and they hated the new guy who was now eating their lunch.
When every school and conference which cried about Texas Tech directs the exact same threats at Michigan and the Big 10 for what happened yesterday, we can take them seriously.
I’m not holding my breath.

This just lacks so, so much context.
The city wanted the Oilers, they didn’t want Bud Adams… after going 12-4 in 93, and having a winning record for 7 straight years he cut cut cut costs, and simultaneously asked the city for 75% of funding for new stadium a half decade after asking the city for $100M worth of renovations. He threatened to leave over them throughout the 1994 season so much he burnt all bridges in town before announcing the departure officially in 1995
He spent the renovation focused on luxury items for upper crust fans, then threw a fit when the city didn’t also fork over money for more significant, impactful, & necessary work.
But Bud Adams’s net worth was over a billion in the mid-90s, and the city was coming out of the 80s when an oil bust nearly broke the city financially… and still managed to help him with his first of the two asks in 89. The drying up of fan support, in every way, was a response to his threats, NOT to how people felt about nfl football.
Bud Adams greed led to the mess that moved the oilers away from Houston. He wanted his own, brand new Alamodome to house the three major franchises, but wanted the city to foot 75% of it even after he’d shown poor judgement in spending the city’s money before.
All of the legalese and trandmark fighting out of Tennessee since then have struck the same “you never gave us all the things we wanted” notes the entire time. He sought to take advantage of a city already on hard times instead of invest in the community that helped him amass wealth and notoriety in the first place.
There’s little oil in Tennessee, and the colors were meaningless to Nashville or Memphis. But theyre the ones used as pawns for a family that’s holding the 30 year grudge.
So no, it’s not “lack of foresight.” It’s seeing through bullshit.
My thoughts on Houston's dedication to Oilers colors, etc. and the big debate about their Rivaly uniforms.
Houston didn't want the Titans and were willing to let them go. Understandable given the fight over a stadium and feelings for Bud Adams.
Perhaps the city should have considered this when letting the Oilers vacate their fine city: The history, the uniforms, the colors were going with them.
That's been the case in every move in league history except one, where Cleveland and the league were proactie with the Browns.
Why didn't Houston try to be smartly proactive like that if all these things were so vital to the lifeblood of the place? Your lack of foresight isn't the Titans being petty. It's your lack of foresight. They own what they own.

They want you to imagine a poor mother being thrown in prison for stealing a tube of toothpaste she couldn’t afford. That has never been policy in NYC.
In reality, shoplifting of items like soap and toothpaste are usually organized and at scale, to the benefit of gangs who then sell the stolen products on the street themselves.
People like Emily Gallagher try to obfuscate reality because they want to enable this very activity. They know it’s devastating to retail stores and that’s the point — they’re communists and want to use crime to force these stores to close. It’s social justice.
Your toothpaste and shampoo isn’t locked up because a poor mom once stole a bottle. Walgreens and CVS aren’t closing locations citywide because they lost a few bars of soap.
This is happening because organized gangs have been allowed to constantly ransack the stores, enabled by people like Emily Gallagher.
And the rest of us pay dearly for it. When stores have to take these kinds of risks just to open, it drives up the cost of products across the board for the rest of us. Remember that next time they lecture about ‘cost of living’ here.
They just don’t care. Soon enough we’ll be hearing about the need for government-run drug stores to replace the shops they drove out of business.

I often criticized Lindsey Graham. But this weekend, I learned his full story:
- Orphaned young, he adopted & raised his little sister instead of letting her go into the system.
- Grew up dirt poor, racking balls in his parents’ pool hall.
- In search of opportunity, he joined the Air Force. Served 33 years. Retired a Colonel.
- Then spent decades in Congress, earning respect across the aisle.
- Bashed Trump hard in ~2016, then respected the will of the voters, and grew to become a loyal ally.
- Humble. Devoted to his constituents.
- Driven by patriotism (even when misguided). Never in it for the money. Could've cashed in any time like most of his colleagues.
- That Disney trip everyone mocked? Just a good uncle taking his beloved nieces. He smiled through (and ignored) the hate to protect his family.
RIP to a self-made American original.
